It was endlessly frustrating, even the earlier seasons (which held a lot of promise and had genuinely great moments) seemed to lose the plot by the end. In later seasons, it happened earlier and earlier; just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping enough stuck.

Sometimes I wonder why we can't just be kinder to one another? Defuse violence, don't escalate. I remember the bodies flung from the towers. I remember the fear I felt for my family. And as I grew, learned of US intervention in the middle east for decades, it underlined that point.

My parents rightly recognized that I should *not* be doing that. I was in fourth grade, what do you mean I shouldn't be watching black specks fall from the towers? I heard that my uncle was found that evening, he and a bunch of others had walked the highways until they could get rides home.

Our homework was to take in this historic moment with our families, so being a rule-following kid, I got home and turned on the news, watching the planes hit the towers over and over. Listening to conjecture whether a missile had hit the pentagon, or if it had been another plane.

25 years ago I was in fourth grade in SW Missouri. My teacher put the news on the TV and we all watched. When the Pentagon got hit, my parents called to have me removed from class; my uncle was working in the Pentagon and we weren't getting any news from him or others.

The data center I visited literally had electric scooters for the skeleton staff to zoom around the massive complex on. I think there were about eight folks on hand at a time and I'm talking one of the big West Coast datacenters that's been running for years.
