Baroness Benjamin spent 15 months in foster care as a child. She's now a member of the House of Lords and tries to make the world better. Aim high for our #ChildrenInCare. #Edusky
Baroness Floella Benjamin's official House of Lords Profile besides a quote that reads:
"I am there to move society on... Even though I get obstacles I will overcome them because I am working for good.

Neil Morrrissey spent 7 years in care as a child. One special teacher believed in his acting dreams. Never underestimate the power of a special teacher. ✨
Quote reads:
"What she saw in me was potential.
She said ”Watch Neil, he's a natural.”
I'll never forget that sentence.

Quote is from Neil Morrissey, who was in children’s homes and foster care from age 11 – 18.

Dame Elizabeth Anionwu spent 9 years in a children's care home. In 2017, she won the #PrideOfBritain Lifetime Achievement award for her work improving nursing. Aim high for our #ChildrenInCare. #Edusky
Quote from Dame Elizabeth Anionwu reads:
"Hold on to that dream and surround yourself with individuals who care for you, but will also speak the truth."
Caption then reads:
"Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, who was in a Birmingham children’s home until she was aged 9."

Jim Bowen, comedian and presenter, began life in an orphanage. He was then adopted. His warmth and humour still radiates joy. Dream big for #CareExperienced children. #Edusky
Quote from Jim Bowen reads:
“My mum told me that she got the job when the original failed the audition...
I’m proud to be adopted.
I shout it from the rooftops.”

As noted elsewhere in this thread, Isaac from Crystal Clean Windows York Limited came over and cleaned the restaurants windows for free and helped remove the graffiti. That's patriotism! Trying to make your community better. Reaching out and helping others.

I go. I try. And I will keep trying, even though it feels like a losing battle. Because I remember the whole point of the far-right astroturfing of social media is to make it feel like a losing battle, to make us give up. Anyway, a few snippets on small boat crossings and immigration.

Ah lovely. Another bag of rubbish gets tipped into the House of Lords. The place must absolutely reek of stale Tory failure, corruption and abuse of power. Honours handed out like sweeties to some of the most undeserving, underachieving, overpromoted clowns and liars to have ever held public office.

📢 1.90 is rolling out now (3/11) Every post now has the ability to “detach” quote posts. Quote posts are great but sometimes they’re used to dunk on people. This tool gives you a quick way to remove your post from the quote, reducing the unwanted attention that a quote might bring.
A screenshot of a quote post. The “Detach quote” menu item is highlighted. An arrow shows the post after the quote was detached, showing now “Content not available.”

Ofsted: this week my friend (a Headteacher) was driven, in a vintage open top car, round his school village, judging a scarecrow competition. Whilst I am doing home visits to battered, empty flats looking for kids who may have caught malaria while in Africa. Same framework. Context is everything.

“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it, there are many dark places; but still, there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.” schoolsweek.co.uk/after-the-ri... Exceptionally wise words from Hamid (and JRR)

Our schools must play a vital healing role after the riots
We and our pupils have witnessed horrific scenes - but we can't allow fatalism to define our response
