*VA calculator* found an error. A stray comma in a lookup table. Now corrected. Also I’ve deleted PAG 20, which overlaps with PAG 19. Come to conclusion PAG 20 is a remnant of the 2023 (same benchmarks) and shouldn’t be there. The guidance is a mess. www.insightinform.co.uk/2026/09/14/2...

From what I’m hearing, I’m getting impression that issues with KS2 progress go beyond just incorrect classification of High PA group. That there may be problems across the board. Telling that Primary Accountability Technical Guidance still hasn’t been updated (usually out at start of year).

Thinking about the data checking exercise which shows individual pupil progress scores and PAGs, I’m interested to know what DfE will do in 2028 when prog measured from RBA. Will they keep the black box closed or reveal pupil start points?

Assessment matters. But high-stakes accountability can turn it into performance theatre. The issue is not individual teachers or schools. It is a system that rewards threshold focus and public signals over diagnostic use. We should protect assessment by lowering the stakes around it.

From Insight data, it looks like there’s going to be a big increase in % achieving full marks in MTC. 37% last year; probably over 40% this year.

Here’s an interesting IDSR thing. Disadvantaged gap grows from 16 to 17pp and classed as widening. However, in terms of no. of pupils gap equates to, it’s actually shrunk from 7 to 6 (ie no. of pupils required to achieve EXS to close gap to national non-dis). Helps to show gap as pupil equivalent.

Looking at an IDSR that shows ‘significant increase’ in results between 2023 and 2024, and yet the consecutive confidence intervals overlap. Can’t find guidance on trend calculation. Is it based on SDs? That’s how ⬇️⬆️ were calculated in previous IDSR.
