This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

The easy answer would be, have my parents take care of me, but: 1. I trust Mars a hell of a lot more with private medical needs than my parents. 2. They're driving out of town the week of Thanksgiving and I absolutely will not be cleared for travel, so I need someone else at home.

Yeah, I've had a few EMT (former) friends chime in after this about their experiences, and it's all bad. Poor pay, shit hours, and the physical and mental toll make it not worth it.

I love when the doctor's office calls me right when they close, asks me to call back, and then... surprise, I get voicemail when I call them back five minutes after the missed call. Because they're gone for the day. You are the WORST.

You know what pisses me off most about medical debt like ambulance bills? EMTs aren't paid jack shit for the work they do. The average salary for an EMT is $44,000/year. $20/hour. And my five mile ambulance ride was $3,500.

I expressed wanting to go somewhere with them this year. Nothing came of it. The only time I get invited is if they're visiting family, and I don't want to socialize with my family, I want to get out and DO THINGS. They "talk about" things they'd like to do with me, and it never goes beyond that.
