Oh now this might be an elite charity shop find. First heard about this on YOPB when @robinallender.bsky.social read from the section on how Lennon communicated his ideas to GM.

On the books I’ve been reading in September
I was starting to think like a long piece in The New Yorker. I developed an inner vocal fry. By the end of September, I was in dire need of fiction.

I suffer from regency bias which means that I believe a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

Sorting out the back of my wardrobe this morning. I’ve found a stack of notebooks from 2023. Inside one is a false start to a story which was later in The London Magazine.

Had a nice long walk today and brought Shirley Jackson with me. This book includes three essays on writing. One essay focuses on the writing of and backlash to The Lottery. Amazing to think that story is nearly 80. It’s stunning!
