I'm not quite sure that I follow. Walled garden vs open platform, etc I get. Hell, I'll grant having an agent book you a flight or find a restaurant (even though I enjoy doing these things). But why would anyone want the bots to post? Is nothing sacred anymore?

I think statistical analysis is neat and theory-free inference is an interesting development. I also think that most of the AI problems aren't about AI as much as they are labor, environmental, social, or problems with algorithms in general. And for those reasons, I'm not talking to the bots

a) I've never felt the need to have a conversation with my static analysis tool b) The systemic, longterm utility of these tools remains to be seen c) I'd rather employ a human to learn to do x, because I think knowledge is good actually. And I actually like people

Based and nuanced thread. The only thing I have to add is that I find the AI of it all so profoundly uninteresting. All of the real problems seem to actually be issues of labor, of algorithms broadly, or of devaluing skill and craft. We've been dealing with all of this for years

I know it's a silly jokey joke, but people REALLY need to stop anthropomorphizing their boyfriends. "My boyfriend told me" your boyfriend didn't "tell" you anything. "My boyfriend thinks..." your boyfriend can't actually think or feel; just output a convincing simulation of it based on probability 🙄
