And tier 3 takes a lot more work and knowledge for most jobs and most people never hit it and don't need to, and that's totally fine. When you're talking about difficulty, which part are you talking about? Because the difference is important to the discussion.

These are all different questions with different answers for different jobs. Most are pretty easy for that first tier, but not all, and some have hiccups as they jump from expac to expac. A number of jobs are pretty easy to get to tier 2, but some require more work/knowledge than others.

yay for getting published, that is ALWAYS an accomplishment, but man. I hope the worldbuilding got better and then pacing got faster as the series went on because the first book was both too slow and wordy and somehow also way too fast and full of whiplash.
