Big Streaming doesn't want you to know that Kanopy is kind of like Amazon Prime Video except that you have to pay for Prime and Kanopy is free. Oh also Prime shows ads even though you pay for it and Kanopy doesn't show ads even though you don't pay for it. Oh and Bezos doesn't get Kanopy's data.

people tell pollsters what they think is the "right" answer. "uh bipartisanship and hammering things out in the middle and sensible solutions." these same people would scream out in orgiastic joy if you just gave them a bunch of socialistic programs for the most part. they have no fuckin clue.

If they can take Ilhan Omar’s passport, they can take yours. A passport isn’t actually your property. It belongs to the state. And a capricious, racist, fascist state can and will use their power over passports to cut off avenues of safety for its people. I am deeply concerned for her and all of us

“So it was, on that misty morning, that Brenda set off for the capital. She knew not what she would find there, only that the time had come to move on - away from small-minded rural attitudes and people who called her ‘Oreo’ and ‘the wide panda’ - to seek a more fulfilling life.”

A belted galloway cow walking into the mist, on a Dorset lane, towards a bold, unpredictable future. You can see half of my car in the background. It looks remarkably clean, by normal standards. When one of my wife's work colleagues asked her "What car does your husband drive?" she answered "I can't remember what make it is but it's the really dirty one that sometimes turns up in the car park here" and her colleague immediately said "Oh yes, I know the one."

This show did a good job of showing a cramped 3 bedroom house with 10. The middle kids slept in a set of bunk beds and a double bed. And single camera! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kid...

The email was addressed to me but the supporting material was for someone else entirely. I mentally said “there’s no way they are charging me that much for additional cleaning*” and started googling lawyers and imagining the ceiling falling in the minute I closed the door.

I know the ChatGPT ad about the old lady renting a boat is supposed to be “fun” “kooky” and “empowering” but as someone who has actually spent time with an elderly loved one (who only had access to infomercials) it’s fucking terrifying

The one where the New Yorker is knitting and talking is just sad, and also pitched at the wrong audience—I think they are trying to say you can just turn this on and have it do emotional care work, but everyone I know who does care wants help on practicalities, not emotional connection.

Oh god, yes. I guess that they are marketing it directly to old people as a fun way to destroy earth and get vengeance on the family who is too busy to cater to you. That boat one is chilling.

I guess it’s sort of comfort watching, but Law and Order SVU. I started in season 13, I’m now watching 16, and 1) it was much better writing that allowed characters and actors to develop and 2) I am watching plot lines that mirror current events.

There's a diphtheria case in NY. Let's hope it's a one-off; diphtheria is deadly (1 in 10) & highly contagious (transmission is respiratory or cutaneous - via skin contact), but very rare in the US - just 10 cases in the last 20 years. The last respiratory case... 🧵 www.btpm.org/local/2026-1...
