Oh boy oh boy I've made the most extra pair of jeans I've ever owned #garmentsewing These are made in Liberty denim and they're mostly the #truebiaslanderpants, but with the curved waistband from #sewhouse7oxbowpants. Also I adjusted the hell out of them, they have a pretty challenging crotch.

Detail and inside pictures! I love making shirts 👀 collars and plackets and cuffs, oh my (no cuff on this iteration though). This is such nice soft cotton. Flat felled and fully finished throughout. Handmade Liberty tag. #garmentsewing

Today I might just cut out my final Landers in this Liberty denim. This was a real Find at the Fabricabrac, and so funny because I'd been eyeing up that denim when it was for sale retail. I managed to talk myself out of it then regretted it 😂 got it in the end! #truebiaslanderpants #garmentsewing

I had this fun, wafty sort of macrame mesh that I'd picked up at the destash sale. And I've had the idea stuck in my head about a fashiony tabard. The #fibremoodhodatop filled the brief pretty well. I went rogue on the instructions and bound the whole thing with FOE. Surprisingly little fuss.

I finally got on the bandwagon and sewed up a #sewhouse7remyraglan. With the gathered sleeves. This is lovely lightweight cotton and will do nicely for summer! It didn't take as much fabric as expected, even with the extra big sleeves. Only 1.8m on narrow loom cotton.

The other thing I have been turning Liberty scraps into: scent sachets. Very low waste if you're open to irregular shapes. Long life laundry scent beads in them, you know the ones that are pretty rough on your washing machine but smell outrageously good 👀 scrap busting woo! #sewing

4 scent sachets, all different random vaguely trapezoidal shapes. They're made of liberty poplin with an abstract leaf print and they're purple black and cream. They have purple hanging ribbons. They're laying on a pile of scraps of a liberty lawn called Crescendo. It's blue with flying swans on it.

I've been enjoying cutting my tiniest liberty scraps into very cute tags. I do a batch up every so often between projects, then I've got a nice stack to sew in, no muss no fuss #garmentsewing

18 tags and 2 cardboard templates for this tags. Some of the tags are a purple, black,cream abstract leaf print and some are white with a tiny leaf print. Some are small landscape format tags and some are tall portrait ones.

I made up another #patternemporiumonrepeat woven tee. I had only a short length of this fabric and I was delighted to get this out of 1.1m. I could have done longer sleeves but I wanted to try the short. It really feels like a tshirt, I love it. And such a pleasant speedy sew #garmentsewing

I made up the new #patternemporiumonrepeat woven tee. This is a toile (hence this oddball fabric.. reminds me of 90s bus seat covers) which had a few purposes. Fit, ofc, but also I tried a full bicep adjustment. I would say reasonably successful. I love the boatneck. I want armscye one size bigger.

In wearing a stripey top. It's tshirt shaped with a boatneck, cutting wide and high over my shoulders, and 3/4 sleeves. The print is abstract stripes and the colour palette is sort of brutalist disco.

Hands by my sides. This has a one inch hem on sleeves and bodice. Bodice also has a little slit in each side seam and I like the method used for this, though I'll mod my next one to have a double fold hem.

Side view. I'm very happy with the amount of ease in my sleeve. The length is just north of my wrist.

The back. This neckline is faced btw. I also quite like the method of doing the facings. You sew them onto front and back separately and then cleverly fold them together when you sew the shoulder seam.

Ngaire, a chestnut coloured shelduck with white head, and Lefty, a black shelduck with chestnut tail feathers, are standing amongst fallen orange leaves and sparse agapanthus. There's a food box next to Ngaire and a pond in the background.

Lefty, a black shelduck, is floating in a pond. He's contrasted in a bright white reflection with circular ripples around him and he's lifting his bill up taking a drink. You can see the ghosts of stones below him, but the water is murky.

Ngaire stands on a brilliant green lawn, weight on her left foot. She's looking to the left, showing her full outer selection of wing feathers which range from white through bottle green and chestnut, all the way to charcoal and black.

Here's a screenshot of bird of the year showing the pūtangitangi candidate. Who ought to be your number one, but if you're repping another lovely manu Ngaire is happy to accept second 😇 she's so humble.

In #garmentsewing news I've washed these two fabrics for wearable toiles. The stripes are trousers and the flowers a blouse. And I thought, potentially quite nice if they match. #truebiaslanderpants and #nhpatternsaprilblouse are the patterns.

Two fabrics hang in the sun. They're both green. GREEN. LIME GREEN. One is a canvas with stripes, and one is a voile with little abstract flowers in a ditsy print.

I had to make another pair of my park walking pants and so I whipped these up. Cotton French terry #greenstylevolareleggings - exactly the same as my other pair except that those are dark blue. Pale grey feels like quite a departure lol. Will I be brave enough to wear out of the house? Hm. Comfy tho

I'm wearing grey leggings which are fitted over the butt and upper thigh and then loosen off above the knee to a flared hem.

The front, with my cream coloured polka dot asymmetrical tshirt untucked over the waistband.

The back, tucked in. Very nice fit for the curvier of arse like me

Front again with my top tucked in. They have a faux foldover waistband.

So (🧵) my grandmother subscribed to Burda magazine, years and years ago. I wasn't yet into #garmentsewing when she died and I've thought often about how it's a horrendous shame that the piles and piles of them didn't come to me. I've checked the magazine section of every op shop since lol. Found ~5.

I sewed up this #frenchnavyroscoesweater last week. It was one I made hoping to capture the vibe of this much loved and basically falling apart 80s jumper. I think it's been reasonably successful, though the pattern isn't as well put together as Greenstyle's ones. Sleeve cut on fold! Sigh.

I made more merino boxers because I made one pair a few months ago that I'm forever rescuing from the wash/putting extra cycles on to get em clean. They really are the only thing for long morning walks in Otago winter. #greenstylebillieshorts cut with the longest inseam option #garmentsewing

And the back, you can see the end of the front gusset at the crotch. There's a white label covering the join in the elastic

Person, though headless, is wearing boxers made with blue stripey merino fabric. They have a front gusset piece and an elastic waist.

Side view. No side seam! Which makes these a bit of a pest to cut.

The best, silliest pants 😅 AND they're wool so I haven't taken them off since they came off the machine. #garmentsewing These are the #SewLiberatedarthurpants. I made them in a red twill a few months ago but the pattern's absolutely made for a tartan. I surprised myself with the pattern matching.

The hubris got me because directly after this I sewed the inseam with right side to wrong side (instead of wrong-wrong for flat felling). I was wondering why the pattern suddenly wasn't matching that well.... Having said that, all unpicked (2/3 of an episode of CDRAS) & redone now. #garmentsewing

My #sewliberatedarthurpants are going well. figured I'd do what I could to match the plaid, but was cutting around holes so I took it easy. Having said that, I think it went ok😅🤔 there's a felled seam down fr & back of each leg too. I used a couple of scraps from a previous pair of navy wool pants.

Gonna cut out the most flamboyant pair of wool #sewliberatedarthurpants later on 👀 I had dug up some complementary checks which I thought I might need, but in fact I think I can get all the pieces solely from this, as it's a broadcloth. I won't be mad if I have to draw on the B team though.

A length of wool tartan is hanging from a ceiling rack. It is all in shades of green, adding up to an emerald overall I'd say

Two more check fabrics, the top one a wool twill check, and the bottom a cotton check (larger format), both Madras style and in tones of emerald green through to pink

Made another soft jersey coord set the last few days on the #garmentsewing front. I've decided I prefer these slimline pyjama type pants and I'll cut one of my wide leg pairs down to the same I think. Also more labels. I did this Kelsmandu design as a linocut; this is it filled in with poscas.

#garmentsewing I love collecting tags, and making tags, and I do genuinely enjoy sewing them on and yet somehow most of my projects get left unlabeled. Then I collect up a whole bunch of them and try to nail them all down at once. I've got like 6 so far in this go round 🥳 this one's for you Toni 😸🇳🇿

I love an arty tag for my #garmentsewing projects and I've experimented with lino cut ones but had a tough time with getting the ink to be colour fast. These I've done with posca pens, on scrap calico. I ran a test before I started on a calico bit through the wash after decoration. Success!

Okay so I have spent three days on a garment I don't love tbh 😂😅 a toile really but STILL #simplicitysewings8014 This is indeed flannelette. I thought it'd maybe be a warm WFH garment (it does this, sorta) or a nightie (not enough ease in the bodice). #garmentsewing whinge continues below lol.

I'm wearing a pale blue dress/robe, knee length. It has a stand collar. My hands are in my pockets.

Closer view with the tie around my waist. The dress has no buttons so the cuffs are standing open 🤷🏻‍♀️

The back. It has a yoke across upper back with a gathered centre back. The hem is quite curved up at the sides.

My hand on the ironing board showing the 6" deep hem facing (beautiful. Prob my best hem facing yet. I did not use the actual pattern pieces, drafted for the extra depth & direct match)

I discovered oxygen bleach in the last year. What do you MEAN I can spray it on, watch it bubble, blood stain disappears before my eyes? COLOUR SAFE? And I've been suffering with Napisan soaks all this time?! Sorry just having a laundry meltdown about the last 30 misspent years
