Phenomenal piece by @michellegoldberg.bsky.social here. (Gift link)
If there were justice in the world, Musk would never be able to repair his reputation, at least not without devoting the bulk of his fortune to easing the misery he's engendered. Musk's sojourn in government has revealed severe flaws in his character - a blithe, dehumanizing cruelty, and a deadly incuriosity. This should shape how he's seen for the rest of his public life

Call me crazy but I don't think the city should be plowing the streets at pedestrians' expense like this.
Toronto sidewalk that has massive overflow of snow from a street plow, which makes it difficult for able-bodied people to pass through, and impossible or near impossible for anyone with accessibility needs.Toronto sidewalk that has massive overflow of snow from a street plow, which makes it difficult for able-bodied people to pass through, and impossible or near impossible for anyone with accessibility needs.

Some backseat editing. If you are going to mention Trump’s tariffs are supposedly over fentanyl and illegal immigration coming from Canada, you need to mention that’s bullshit and not supported by the data.

Does anyone know of a good recording/transcription service (that's affordable for a freelancer)? Otter is such fucking garbage these days, the more gen AI features it shoves down users' throats the less it's able to actually record a conversation without garbling the audio. I'm losing my mind!

I spent the last couple of days speaking to Canadians who'd moved to the U.S. to build their creator careers about what the U.S.'s ban on TikTok would mean for them, and how they were preparing to weather the loss of their largest followings. My story for @thelogic.co: thelogic.co/news/tiktok-...

Some Canadians bet everything on making it big on TikTok in the U.S. With the app facing a ban, they’re wondering how they’ll earn a living.

This is blatant life endangerment thru dangerous public policy I wouldn’t have thought possible until recently. In Ontario the Doug Ford Govt plans to BAN LAWSUITS against the Province WHEN people on bikes are hurt or killed after they rip out safe bike-lanes. “Stay off streets for your own safety.”

The fact Doug Ford is trying to pass legislation that would prevent him from being sued when someone is injured and/or killed because of his bike lane bill means he KNOWS that it’s likely to happen. This is premeditated, evil shit.

I wrote this a few weeks ago & it's been on my mind now that google's gen AI summaries show up on searches in Canada. It doesn't sit right to know that every time I search something it requires more power (and likely produces more CO2) than before, and there's no way to opt out.
