The Art of #InverteFest - April 2026 is out! I contributed this sketchbook page. Mostly because I'm proud of the Oak Gall Wasp drawing.

A couple ink drawings of bugs in a sketchbook with yellow paper. On the left side is an Oak Gall Wasp, drawn on a post it note, but slightly exceeding the post it and onto the sketchbook page. The wasp is from Tribe Cynipini and has a bent wing. The right page has a front facing drawing of a Twice- stabbed Lady Beetle, Chilocoris stigma. Both drawings are colored with the same red-orange maker. The body of the wasp is colored in as well as the distinctive "stab" marks on the beetle.

I was very excited to get these photos of a cat killing one of my neighbor chipmunks, knowing that I could use them for science communication/future presentations. I put them on iNat (like all my wildlife photos) and an author team writing a monograph on native mammals wants to include the photos!

By the way I had great success loosening the chalk puddles with a jet spray bottle of clean water and then mopping up the chalky water with a big sponge. I wrung out the sponge into a bucket and poured the blue water slurry down my sink at home.
