Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti. "Please get the truth out about our son."
Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES
DAVID SNOPE, ET AL. v. ANTHONY G. BROWN, IN HIS
OFFICIAL CAPACITY AS ATTORNEY GENERAL OF
MARYLAND, ET AL.
ON PETITION FOR WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED
STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FOURTH CIRCUIT
No. 24–203. Decided June 2, 2025
The petition for a writ of certiorari is denied. JUSTICE
ALITO and JUSTICE GORSUCH would grant the petition for a
writ of certiorari.
Statement of JUSTICE KAVANAUGH respecting the denial
of certiorari.
In District of Columbia v. Heller, this Court ruled that
the Second Amendment must be interpreted in light of
constitutional text, history, and tradition. 554 U. S. 570,
576–628 (2008). The Court further determined that the
Second Amendment protects those weapons that are in
“common use” by law-abiding citizens. Id., at 624, 627.
Because handguns are in common use by law-abiding
citizens, the Court held that the District of Columbia’s ban
on handguns violated the Second Amendment. Id., at 628–
629. The Court’s later Second Amendment decisions in
Bruen and Rahimi did not disturb the historically based
“common use” test with respect to the possession of
particular weapons. See New York State Rifle & Pistol
Assn., Inc. v. Bruen, 597 U. S. 1, 47 (2022); see also United
States v. Rahimi, 602 U. S. 680, 735–736 (2024)
(KAVANAUGH, J., concurring); post, at 1–6 (THOMAS, J.,
dissenting from denial of certiorari).
This case primarily concerns Maryland’s ban on the
AR–15, a semi-automatic rifle. Americans today possess an
estimated 20 to 30 million AR–15s. And AR–15s are legal
in 41 of the 50 States, meaning that the States such asJUSTICE THOMAS, dissenting from the denial of certiorari.
The State of Maryland prohibits ownership of AR–15s,
the most popular civilian rifle in America. Md. Crim. Law
Code Ann. §4–303(a)(2) (2025). This petition presents the
question whether this ban is consistent with the Second
Amendment. The Fourth Circuit held that it is, reasoning
that AR–15s are not “arms” protected by the Second
Amendment. Bianchi v. Brown, 111 F. 4th 438, 448 (2024)
(en banc). I would grant certiorari to review this surprising
conclusion.

10th Cir. holds that the federal criminal prohibition on firearm possession by an individual who has a misdemeanor DV conviction is consistent with the nation's tradition of firearm regulation in both why and how it burdens his Second Amendment right. www.ca10.uscourts.gov/sites/ca10/f...
Section 922(g)(9) prohibited Jackson from possessing a firearm unless and
until one of the conditions identified in § 921(a)(33)(B)(ii) was satisfied. Given the
various ways by which his Second Amendment right may be restored, Jackson’s
penalty was conditional, and not necessarily permanent. See United States v. Gailes,
118 F.4th 822, 829 (6th Cir. 2024) (explaining, for the same reason, the “purported
permanent ban in § 922(g)(9) may not always be so”). His conditional disarmament is
clearly a “lesser restriction” than a permanent ban, the constitutionality of which was
Appellate Case: 23-6047 Document: 86-1 Date Filed: 05/28/2025 Page: 13

upheld by this court post-Rahimi. See Vincent v. Bondi, 127 F.4th 1263, 1266 (10th
Cir. 2025). The burden imposed by § 922(g)(9) is consistent with the nation’s
tradition of firearm regulation. In sum, § 922(g)(9), as applied to Jackson, is
“relevantly similar to [the] founding era regimes in both why and how it burdens
[his] Second Amendment right.” Rahimi, 602 U.S. at 698. Section 922(g)(9) therefore
survives Jackson’s constitutional challenge.
