Team did a surprising thing. I immediately started solutioning. As a leader my job is to take that solutioning and throw it away and instead ask the team, “why?”. The relevant quote is, “process is the embedded response to prior stupidity.” That’s not how we talk anymore. But it’s clear.

My brother turned 45 today. I was trying to think of what advice I have for 45, and the only advice I really have is that the elapsed time between 45 and 50 is measured in weeks if not days.

The AI alignment question is interesting: if we can align AI with human flourishing than presumably we can also align techbros with human flourishing.

NEW | California just reached a world-first solar milestone Over HALF (51%) of electricity generation across the whole month of May came from solar power. Battery storage is the big difference maker, enabling California to push the share of solar generation to this level.

I wonder, if you polled people, how much extra they would pay each year to have their city *not* be covered in thick, choking wildfire smoke for days at a time. I wonder if that might give you more insight into "willingness to pay" vis a vis climate change than asking in the abstract.

The frustrating part of this of course is there is a better and cheaper approach using solar, battery, and light grid interconnect that would improve the infrastructure for the region without killing people. Killing people has to be your goal to go this way.
