In this case the problem got solved not because of any process but because an individual saw an issue and got curious. Heroism has toxic impacts. But ownership beats process. That’s your job to navigate.

Team did a surprising thing. I immediately started solutioning. As a leader my job is to take that solutioning and throw it away and instead ask the team, “why?”. The relevant quote is, “process is the embedded response to prior stupidity.” That’s not how we talk anymore. But it’s clear.

My brother turned 45 today. I was trying to think of what advice I have for 45, and the only advice I really have is that the elapsed time between 45 and 50 is measured in weeks if not days.

The AI alignment question is interesting: if we can align AI with human flourishing than presumably we can also align techbros with human flourishing.

NEW | California just reached a world-first solar milestone Over HALF (51%) of electricity generation across the whole month of May came from solar power. Battery storage is the big difference maker, enabling California to push the share of solar generation to this level.

The exercise dropped off about a year ago, but it’s a downward spiral, without exercise the work gets more demanding because exercise is critical to stress management. The people I know who pull it all off have a lot of help.

I wonder, if you polled people, how much extra they would pay each year to have their city *not* be covered in thick, choking wildfire smoke for days at a time. I wonder if that might give you more insight into "willingness to pay" vis a vis climate change than asking in the abstract.

Congo is giving England way too many shots. When I coach under 14s the #1 strategy is keep the ball on the other teams side of field. Congo is not doing it.
