cc @jay.bsky.team just my $0.02 — I think there’s a compelling pitch to major media and entertainment outlets to own their content & control distribution themselves & just run a traditional Enterprise software co. but you need to have proof the audience is there = centralize to start

most discourse I’ve had around bsky ends with “… if the decentralization thing doesn’t kill it.” I’m pretty convinced that the biz here is to aggregate community and then sell atproto servers to large media cos so they can own their content but implementation is invisible to users cc @pfrazee.com

problem is it’s intuitively difficult for product owners to understand whether their product is actually good, you only get that from customer & user feedback. so the two are intertwined; optimizing for retention etc. actually helps you overcome the blind spot

i still use github atom because i'm a diehard. i suppose i should switch to copilot soon considering i run a company that literally providers an in-browser IDE and AI agent that helps folks code...

should i move all my twitter CloutPosts about building a startup here?? i only get like 2 likes / post now on twitter anyway, might as well start building an audience here...

you gotta do both tbh. it's just that tactics / strategies for growth & retention become a lot more obvious when customers simply tell you (either directly or via data) what they want

so folks don’t have to type bsky.social when it’s redundant I mean. you could also add the ability to buy custom icons for custom domains — might encourage brands & celebs to move under their own domains. that sounds like the best verification style program where it’s kinda federated a bit

pretty crazy that @jamesgunn.bsky.social is the center of the bluesky cinematic universe. hey @pfrazee.com — think it’s worth shortening @ bsky.social names to just usernames? and then use an icon to denote “this network” & give a custom icon to custom domains. would help celebs I think

people like to focus on graphics in games but as I’m playing that graphics just feed me sensory information that I react to; I lose all sense of their fidelity pretty quickly. I think it’s why we remember eg Goldeneye as having amazing graphics
