Isn’t it strange how, when you start being paid by private companies instead of elected by the public, the people become the “mob”? Palantir’s record deserves scrutiny – from politicians and the public. bit.ly/47avtHW

If we are to avert global climate catastrophe, this is going to be critical. A new study confirms solar and wind costs are still falling, gas costs are soaring, and battery energy storage systems are now cheaper than gas peaking plants pretty much everywhere. www.businessgreen.com/news/4537069...

UK water companies made £340m by pouring billions of litres of industrial/commercial wastewater into sewage treatment works. Treatment works are not designed to remove most chemicals, leaving pollutants to pass into rivers, seas and farmland. Investment neglected. Practices are mostly unregulated.

A naked, gold-covered Trump statue has been unveiled inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg. It’s called “Orange Plague,” also known as “King of Injustice,” and shows him sitting on another man’s shoulders holding an enormous golf club. Covered in reportedly 23-karat gold, of course.

Exactly - the PL was designed to fill the coffers, a baked in issue that now means most promoted clubs fail because they don't have enough finance behind them. On top of that pushing to challenge in the PL requires massive financial resources. The PL needs a redesign to restore integrity.

Ignore their excuses: the posties are great - but the problem at Royal Mail has always been senior management - and that includes years leading up to privatisation [from my own experience].

The old cartel in plain sight! - showing just what a mess the Premier League has turned out to be. Let's hope that these issues attract the attention of the new Football Regulator to sort out and ideally scrap the PL as it stands.

"infinitely large amounts of money and absolutely no scruples" - yes the Premier League is the root cause of all this stuff with it's goal to be a cash cow. Now promoted club funding cannot sustain them let alone challenge the old "big four" cartel. Time to bring in the Regulator & redesign the PL.

Joke? - maybe its something about the way the PL have conducted this affair - like if it was a clear cut case - why has it taken years? BTW their investment is in jobs & homes in the UK (because we can't afford to ourselves) - c/w football I guess it's clear which is more important to UK ....👍

The PL is the root of all the problems here - they created a beast that demands millions for a club to even survive in the PL - let alone challenge the old "top four" cartel and then cry when it backfires on them. And if this was a clear cut case - why has it taken years to get here.?

The PL is the source of all these issues with its baked in design as a major cash cow. Promoted FL clubs struggle because they most often do not have enough cash to survive. How does an existing PL team challenge the old big four cartel where even more resources are required?

When competing you have to work to the limit & it would be unusual for clubs not to go beyond from time to time - but the hacker here is just a pawn in all this. This issue is not finished yet & the PL case is not strong [even after years of work] > they could suffer in a real court of law.

As regards Burnham - he is thinking about the country in terms of jobs & homes, just as he did in Manchester. Since the country has been hollowed out over the past 4 decades we are increasingly dependent on foreign investment more than ever. This puts football issues in the shade.

ie don't get upset when events follow the path that was baked-in by the PL setup. The case itself is built on emotion & not enough analysis [the latter could undermine the PL]. When the case hits the High Court - the PL may well be in trouble > a chance for the Regulator to redesign the PL?

The Premier League was always designed to be a cash cow - clubs now need huge sums to participate & massive to challenge. So we now have a PL review of MC - as a result of lobbying by other clubs & vested interests who want to keep their slice of the pie. Comes back the design & goal of the PL. ££
