Voters will have to conclude there's another reason, and the obvious explanation is the NDP decided to place fast and loose with democratic conventions to extend their time in office by a couple of years—and It's hard to convince voters the other guys are the antidemocratic problem when you do that.

An underlying problem for the NDP in BC, and it's a possibly fatal one, is that the decision to call an election to keep Conservatives out of power is paradoxical, since the NDP could have accomplished the feat by not having an election. That cannot be the reason by definition.

I was moving from Vancouver to Montreal to start my PhD on the day of the blackout. Arrived at airport with spouse, 4-year-old & 4-month-old. They told us to go home. We replied that we had no home to go to, having returned our keys that morning. It was a nasty day of travel, but we arrived.
