My cat is basically my remaining coping skill. And he causes a lot of chaos so tbh not sure he counts as coping. #catsofBluesky #academiccats

One of the best pieces of advice a senior executive gave to we juniors was never use your sick days when you're sick. Save them for days that it's sunny & beautiful outside. Always passed that on & it makes such a difference in your people's perspective

The government is going to get shut down because this oligarch dipshit believes blatant lies from the dumbest person on Twitter.
The image shows a tweet from Elon Musk that states, "We’re funding bioweapon labs in this bill!" The tweet quotes another post by "Libs of TikTok," which claims, "BREAKING: New Congressional Resolution bill includes funding for at least 12 new biolabs." A screenshot of the bill is included, displaying the text:

---

SEC. 629. REGIONAL BIOCONTAINMENT RESEARCH LABORATORIES.

(a) In General.—The Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the “Secretary”) shall make awards to establish or maintain, as applicable, not fewer than 12 regional biocontainment laboratories, for purposes of—

(1) conducting biomedical research to support public health and medical preparedness for, and rapid response to, biological agents, including emerging infectious diseases;

One of the things I am most grateful for in my work life is how genuinely respectful everyone on my team is of boundaries. It’s expected that when you’re on lunch, you are on lunch and NOT responding to pings. When you’re off, you’re off, and my team models it. That should be the norm everywhere.

Scout heard about the orcas using salmon as hats and was jealous that the trend started without him. He also doesn’t know what a salmon actually IS but he is committed to fashion. So he got creative with this artful hay fascinator that may inspire a wave of copycats within equine society.
A black horse has a lot of mud on his cheek and neck. He has a white blaze and is poking his tongue out. He is sideways in profile to the camera standing in front of a gate. His ears are perked up and slightly tilted backwards. He has a long piece of yellow hay on top of his ear hanging down his forehead and and cheek.

If you want people to stay and do good work, then creating a culture that does not tolerate harassment needs to be prioritized. It’s not hard to see the connection between feeling safe and performing well. The challenge(s) is changing ingrained cultural norms that tacitly allow ongoing harassment

My great-grandmother was one of the first women in her small town to work outside the home. Her husband decided to do medical school in his 40s, and to support the family she got a job at the small town post office. She supported her family on that salary while he went to school.

I am Sports-adjacent at best but I will be thrilled when Gritty shows up here. I am not a Philly sports team person, and I can’t claim any particular connection to the city (beyond loving it the times I’ve visited) I just really unironically love Gritty

I wrote this in July but it’s even more true now. We need all hands on deck and there’s a lot of deck. This post will help you find your role. Solidarity and community care are the how. Never forget that your capacity to fight for justice and your capacity to love must stay intertwined.

This morning I got an IUD from an excellent provider who practices trauma informed care, provides topical lidocaine, and generally made the process as easy as possible. I still had a vasovagal response (from pain) and hours later it still HURTS. We deserve better from healthcare.

Dr. Tomlin-featured in a video here-provided compassionate care for me when I had a miscarriage a couple of years ago. Local police harassed her after she provided abortion to a 13 year-old rape victim. She (understandably) decided to leave the state. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

I’m in the ER (I’m probably ok, but being careful) and I had heard about the slow motion healthcare collapse, but witnessing it is something else. The system feels like it’s barely holding off a full collapse it’s not yet peak flu season. So many sick/hurting people, so few staff 😢
