In winter through early spring, you can sometimes find unspoiled, still-bright groundcherries sitting in the latticed remnants of their husks, like hearts suspended in paper ribcages

Continuing to explore bits of #Portland I just haven't gotten around to, I finally got to Rocky Butte. I was expecting more than some stonework on top of a hill (trails? What trails?) but it was an opportunity to examine urban communities of #mosses and #lichens growing on the rocks. #urbannature
