My “FFXII is so easy that the job system doesn’t matter” stance is being challenged by Pharos Subterra being so awful it’s got me wanting to respec most of my party.

I’ve hacked a couple 3DS in my time. Guides these days are very detailed and the process is easy. I can understand not wanting to take the risk though if you don’t expect to get a lot of mileage out of custom firmware.

It's so sad the 3DS supply is drying up. Even scuffed ones with yellowed screens can go for hundreds of dollars. There's other ways I can play 3DS games, but as a freak of nature that actually loved the 3D effect, those'll never be the same. I just have to appreciate my busted one while I still can.

yeah; mostly just interested in the genji gloves. I doubt I would need more than one though, and I can get a second pair elsewhere. (realistically the game is probably too easy for me to even notice the effect of them)

I find Gilgamesh. I fight him, he runs away. I save my game. I glance at a guide to see how far his second fight is. "It is critically important you steal from Gilgamesh's first phase when he drops below 20% health to get the best armor in the game." My previous save slot is 7 hours ago. Oh well.

Even crazier is -what- they made optional. It feels like the espers should be a huge deal, but 3/4 into the game and the story had me fight two of them 20 hours ago. The rest are have just been random guys hanging out in random areas, behind puzzles I would never solve without looking them up.

For how threadbare the main plot is, it's crazy how much side content FFXII has. I'm exploring an optional area to do some hunts, and it turns out this place has extra bosses accessible through sidequests I missed dozens of hours ago. Not that I'd remember them, as this game has no quest log.

I’ve now spent hours crossing Mosphoran Highwaste, Salikawood, Phon Coast, Tchita Uplands, and Sochen Cave Palace with the only new plot beat being “Balthier admits he used to be a Judge”. Can we move things at least marginally faster? Christ almighty.

It’s strange Vaan and Penelo get so much hate when Basch has had no character development since he teamed up with Ashe, and the only thing Fran brings to the table is “she’s sensitive to magic.” These characters are all still cool, but this game is giving them no reason to interact with each other.

I’ve decided I’m not done complaining about FFXII. I’m on the road to Archades and the pacing of this game is absolutely brutal. The biggest strength of this game is the characters, but nobody has had anything to do since the Leviathan blew up like 15 hours ago.
