I happen to know that some powerful media orgs were unhappy that AP filed suit; they thought the conflict with the White House would blow over on its own and that AP risked making bad law. The AP's leadership deserves a lot of credit for having proceeded as it did. apnews.com/article/trum...

Good story from @apnews.com on the Trump EO on “censorship.” More context on this para, though: the same conspiracy theories that inspired the EO got the Global Engagement Center disbanded and threaten multiple intl-focused nonprofits. Their work will be stifled, too apnews.com/article/trum...
Trump’s order focuses on Americans’ speech. It’s too soon to tell how that will influence the way federal agencies communicate with social media companies about false claims that originate abroad. Many disinformation campaigns from U.S. adversaries, which have targeted voters, are promoted online by American citizens.
