You'd think there was nothing happening in Sudan by the way the mainstream media is ignoring it, as an IDP camp in N. Darfur is being brutally attacked by the RSF. Consider donating to the Darfur Women's Action Group doing incredible work for the last 15+ years. www.darfurwomenaction.org

Yesterday the Biden Admin concluded that the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) & allied militias have committed genocide in #Sudan & the US would sanction RSF’s leader & related entities. This is a necessary step but more must be done, says @katogun.bsky.social ↘️

If it happens, this may be better late than never. But it’s a shame the Biden admin would wait until the last minute to take a meaningful step on #Sudan. The belligerents should’ve faced real consequences a long time ago. www.politico.com/newsletters/...

Unfortunately, migrant workers are set to lose out again as Saudi Arabia wins bid to host World Cup. @fifaworldcup26.bsky.social simultaneously refused to compensate/remedy migrant workers in Qatar, creating a permission structure for abuse in Saudi WC preparations. Shame on FIFA, again!

POTUS is making headlines for wrong reasons this week, but noteworthy that he finally made his #Africa trip. His admin could’ve made more meaningful progress on the continent. But state visits do matter, so glad to see him in #Angola and #CapeVerde. Also, kudos to Amnesty for letters to both govts!

Quote from article: When I told the nurse we were leaving the next morning, she lost her composure. We hugged, and only then did I realize that, under her clothing, she was wasting away as well. I asked when she had last eaten. She laughed through her tears, “What would I eat?” Then she quickly turned and disappeared toward a cluster of tents.

This summer, #Kenya’s Gen Z protests resulted in #Ruto’s government reigning terror on its citizens. This level of state violence reoccurs because of the culture of impunity. @hrw.org and Amnesty’s report shows how there’s still no accountability for state crimes in the 2023 protests.

For all the outrage I expect to see in the coming years, this decision will be etched in my brain. It’s odious and meant to convey an intentional cruelty.
