NEW: A federal judge in Rhode Island ruled that the gutting of the Institute of Museum & Library Services is likely unlawful. This is the SECOND federal court to rule against the slashing of the only federal agency dedicated to library funding. Learn about ALA's own legal case: ala.org/IMLS-lawsuit

I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

We just started our news literacy unit. So many elementary Ss are paying attention to the news (even though there were some misconceptions) to a level of detail that I think would surprise you. And they are getting it from everywhere. Teaching news literacy at the elementary level is a must!
