Just a reminder: child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on X is not a flash-in-the-pan thing associated with Grok's loose image generation rules. It is a persistent, ONGOING feature of X Fair to assume X will be one of the few to carry a live-streamed execution too, btw www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/t...
Despite Pledges From Musk, Child Sexual Abuse Material Persists on X
Reviews by the Canadian Center for Child Protection and The New York Times found that explicit images of children remain on the social media site owned by Elon Musk.Elon Musk has long vowed to remove child sexual abuse material on his social media platform, X. But some of the content continues to appear.

A review by the Canadian Center for Child Protection found that the site’s own artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, responded to requests from users by creating dozens of sexualized and sometimes sexually explicit photos of children, including victims previously known to law enforcement, at the beginning of the year. The images included children in sexualized poses with partially exposed genitals, in states of undress and with fluid on their faces.

A separate analysis by The New York Times found that during the first half of the year, users on X posted child sexual abuse material previously flagged by authorities, including some of the most egregious content that the site attempts to block using automated filters.

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.

I cut this black locust last year and treated the stump and it still sprouted. Most sprouts were within 20 ft but one popped up at least 45 ft away (straight line) but the root also had to either go through or another 20 ft up and over an old pile of mine rocks.

I should probably turn this into a proper blog post of some sort but for now: what's the most extreme suckering you've seen from a bona fide black locust tree? Sidewalk destruction? Basement invasions? Verified 50-foot roots? 🧪

Black locust are not shade tolerant. If a prospective spot doesn't have full sun, they're not investing in it. If there's yards and yards of grass around them (like surrounding a church, maybe), they're going to put suckers up there, a few feet away from the tree. Better result, less energy spent.

Starting with one thing I know for sure about living organisms: they're not going to work harder than they absolutely need to. So why would a tree 20 feet from a house put a runner along the stone cellar of said house and then travel another 17 feet to a well just to put up a shoot inside a well?

The article's author, David C. Michener, takes both of these anecdotes as truth and also mentions that "the asphalt sidewalk in front of my Arboretum residence is plagued by Robinia suckers from a tree situated a good thirty feet away." Full article: www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/5373482...

The second, claiming that within two weeks a black locust shoot 40+ feet from its tree penetrated the floor of a church and grew to be 4 feet tall:
On the 17th of June, 1769, I attended the service at this church, and being obliged to remain for a short time in the neighborhood, it so occurred that two Sundays afterwards I again repaired to this place of worship; and I never was more astonished, than when, on opening the door, I perceived a young acacia [Robinia], which, in this short interval, had forced its way through the floor and had grown to the height of four feet. This tree was the sucker from a root...49 feet long.

But I have found a 1988 publication with a couple of WILD claims about the spreading ability of black locust. Both cite a 1786 account of traveling North America. The first, saying a black locust sucker traveled 37 feet underground, broke through the side of a well, and put up a shoot in the well:
Jean Hector Saint-Jean de Creve Coeur's account of his travels in North America [1786] typifies the impression made by suckering black locusts: "An acacia [Robinia], that was planted twenty feet from the parsonage house...sent a root across the cellar of the house, which penetrated the side of a well 17 feet beyond, and to the depth of 15 feet below the surface of the ground, insinuating itself among the stones of the well....It then...threw up a small tree."

Black locust is notorious for putting out wee runners under the ground and popping up some distance away from the original tree. If you cut one down and don't treat the stump with anything, it will sucker like nobody's business. Both of these behaviors are survival techniques, thanks evolution

The problem with benevolent dictators is that we have empirical proof that access to that much of power inevitability turns your brain into spaghetti. So we should have elections and term limits for those benevolent dictators and maybe a system of checks and balances and some mechanism for removal.

Exactly this. And in fact, many models *have* been created this way, and decades of prior machine learning systems *were* created this way, consensually. These things are choices! People are STILL working this way! It’s not just that a better world is possible — it already EXISTS. We can nurture it.
