Woooah what’s this – the cover for book 2 in the Moon Realm series?! Out in March 2027, you say, and available to pre order now?? 😀 Absolutely in love with this second cover illustration from @cafween.bsky.social When I first saw it I jumped out of my chair yelling❤️

The book cover illustration for the second in the Moon Realm series, The Lost Clan. Shows moths flying against the wind towards stone towers while dark clouds crowd the sky, which is cast in deep rusty oranges, as if a storm is brewing

I’ve read and loved all of @katharineorton.bsky.social’s gorgeous middle grades and am thrilled to read The Traitor Moth, her new title for slightly younger readers. Huge thanks go to Kat for sending 🥰

The book, the cover of which shows a humanoid moth standing with their back to the reader on the branch of a tree with a staff in their right hand gazing at other moths flying about by the light of a full moon.

Out today in the US! Hard to believe that from the first email to my agent titled “I hope you like moths” to now, this quirky little idea about the lives and adventures of a bunch of fantastical critters in a dangerous upturned world has become a fully fledged book. 😁

Out tomorrow!! April 7th 26. Please take a moment with me to appreciate @cafween.bsky.social ‘s beautiful cover illustration for The Traitor Moth (and this super cool animation @simonkids.bsky.social has made with it). I feel very lucky. #booksky

Say hi to Frog – a small mothling with a big attitude. Brave, blunt, and never one to back down, she has more in common with the Gravekins than with her birth clan. She takes her role as Defender of the Gate seriously, though it’s suspected she was only given the job so her clan could get some peace

Introducing Silkenthread Leafkin – or Silkie for short. One of the youngest ever Master’s Assistants of her clan, Silkie is smart, capable, and fact-driven, but don’t be fooled – she cares deeply about others and will do almost anything to help a friend.

Meet main character Catclaw! Seer of visions, member of an exiled clan, prone to daydreaming and pretty clumsy as a result (in other words not a mothling you can trust to do the dishes – not without accidentally breaking them anyway) The Traitor Moth published in the US on 7th April 26 #booksky

Ancient home video of me as a child has surfaced. There was clearly, ahem, some tension between what the adults wanted from me in them and what I as a little kid wanted to do. This culminated in a performance straight out of the dance scene in Dogtooth. Hilarious and remarkable. Left me kinda proud

Went to visit the cottage where Coleridge and his wife Sarah lived for 3 years. It was fun to see, though it left me thinking that: 1, being the subject of reverence in your lifetime and beyond is just bad for people. 2, I kinda felt sorry for Coleridge. 3, I felt extra sorry for his wife.

Well this is horrific but in ‘autism awareness month’, we should prob be aware there’s a whole industry built around poisoning autistic kids in the name of ‘curing’ them, because apparently many people still think this is an ok thing to want. As Robert Evans says in Pt 2: “Maybe just love them??”
