Back in 1973 I went to this musical I'd heard about that had just transferred from the Royal Court to a semi-derelict cinema. It was a strange year - I was trying to finish my BLitt thesis and was sta...

It occurs to me that it would be handy to know how the economics of being a full-time transphobes work? Clearly it's a profitable grift - we should know how profitable.

One of the reasons why so many of the GC journos are so reliably awful on, say, race, disability, climate change is this. By now the grift is so sweet that if they break ranks on any of it , the one who defects suddenly loses the columns, the conferences, the meals in posh restaurants.

We need to do something about the weird alliance of American techbros and Russian imperialists funding race hate in the UK and Europe. There is no point in spending money on weapons if our enemies rot us from within.

One of the reasons I have difficulty taking Kathleen Stock quite seriously as a philosopher is that strong intentionalism, her branch of aesthetics, is entirely contrary to my lived experience both as poet and critic. I often don't know where a poem is going until it's done...

I would have thought that a BBC that makes us listen to two God bothering slots in the early morning would know better than give unexamining publicity to Jenrick's 'suicidal empathy' nonsense. I trust that all the Christian churches and the other religious traditions will denounce this crap.

It's important for nice liberals to accept that fascists really mean their rhetoric. They are not just teasing the woke. They really do intend to kill everyone who isn't them including nice liberals, even including some of their own.

I think it would be fair to look into the careers of any academic who piled in on Arday and subject their work and career to the same level of forensic examination. If their work is impeccable they would have nothing to fear.

It remains illegal to discriminate against trans people or anyone you think might be trans. Inter alia, we retain the human rights to privacy.

Should be pinned to the top of every single intercommunity argument about tactics. In particular: the people doing the kind of direct action work that other people like to fantasise about online are ABSOLUTELY not talking about it online, are you high? Doing the work > masturbatory discourse

I'm probably preaching to the choir here: Molly doesn't "lead the call to ignore guidance" She's one of thousands of ordinary women - women who won't be bullied into surrendering their rights - refusing to be dictated to by misogynists like J K Rowling, Susan Smith, and Mark McGivern

I've already made it clear that I'm not interested in continuing a struggle session into a second or third day. Do what you like but I will simply mute you rather than waste all our times. I regard myself as accountable, true, but there are more useful things I can be doing.

I'm not saying don't resist genocide and fascism. I'm just saying don't say or do anything that will land you personally in jail and the rest of us in even deeper shit. None of you need to pay me any attention or respect for my age or experience. I'm a bit pissed off that people would be so angry

I suppose it is inevitable that when you get old and advocate a degree of caution, young angry people will accuse you of cowardice and choose to misrepresent what you are actually saying. But knowing it happens does not make it less fucking irritating.

Who won the battle for civil rights? Martin or Malcolm? Who won Indian freedom? Gandhi or Bose. I'm not advocating silence. I'm advocating strategic daring allied to tactical prudence. Individual adventurism will fail . Collective action will keep allies on side.

Bindel and Bailey crywank over the removed breasts of trans men in an oddly open and not very feminist piece of objectification. Meanwhile Joyce and Forstater go to the Court of Appeal in the hope of enabling male cops to grope the actually existing breasts of young trans women.

There are a lot of things that worry me even more than this government's decision to fuck me over for being trans. There's the coming crash when either the AI bubble or the crypto bubble bursts. And there's the worst El Nino yet. Wildfire and crop failures in the US. Devastating floods in China.

Right wing intellectuals go on and on about integrity and authenticity but they all prosper because of bungs from spivs and chancers. From Scruton to Orr, I am endlessly reminded of Sam Spade's line - :The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter'.

I've seen GCs tell trans survivors of rape thar we only transition in order to get raped. I've had them laugh out loud at me when I talked about my own experiences of rape. Anyone who thinks anyone being raped is funny is part of rape culture and ab enabler.

I've fought for other people's - and most especially other women's - human rights and civil liberties all my life. I sacrificed a potentially brilliant career to live as my authentic self, as the woman I had always known I was. But if I speak quietly for my own legal rights, I get called a bully.

I read the comments on Ian Dunt's excellent Substack post about the EHRC guidance and what struck me hard about both the contrarian men and the 'feminist' women is the sheer level of malice towards trans people and especially towards trans women on display and the delight in untruths.

3. If states pass laws in order to comply with European Court decisions and subsequent legal shenanigans render those laws ineffective, is there no provision for a direct appeal to enforce the original judgement? If not, why not?

2. If Harriet Harman believed that the Equalities Act gave trans people the right to use the single sex spaces of their acquired sex, how was it needed to accept the Vera Baird amendment which allowed exceptions to a general rule of access to those spaces?

1. A civil servant who helped draft the GRA confirms that it was intended that trans people count as their acquired sex for all practical purposes and that ideas like 'biological sex' never entered into it. Why didn't the Supreme Court ask for evidence on the intention of the GRA when weakening it?

I feel your pain. Once at a lunch party, I gleefully described how unfilmably queer, big screen and blasphemous my Rhapsody of Blood books are to a sympathetic American called Jason. He turned out to be one of the senior production team on both The Expanse and The Witcher. #nrgativeelevatorpitches
