One of my nieces whispered to another while we were in a multi-kiddo hug: “Auntie X gives the *best* hugs.” & a random person at the pool one morning made a point of telling me: “You’re very smooth in the water … you just sort of glide across the top.”

I have discovered a planet. It is a sphere devoid of sleep. A burning hot moon drifts alone beneath its blood-red sun. Maybe you could find truth there.

"versus the Encroaching Forces of Darkness" Jan 31 2017

Cat and Girl stand, armed, back to back, as dark clouds gather around them.

Cat: isn't it nice to know you're right?

GLENN: Why don't you wear a suit? You're at the highest level in this country's office & you refuse to wear a suit. A lot of Americans have problems with you not respecting the office. ZELENSKYY: I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours. Maybe something better.

Inside me are two wolves...and one of them is effing tired

watercolor and pencil illustration of two white wolves standing against a simple white and black background made to look like snow against a dark sky. One wolf is large and shot with arrows, the other small and childlike. The wolves are almost touching noses; the child looks up at the face of the injured wolf, not understanding. The mood is somber and sad

A guy walks into a genius bar

THE GENIUS
Cat: So much of my time is WASTED in mundane tasks and errands
/
Cat: So I invented buying everything online and having it delivered to my home! And paying people to do my grocery shopping! And my laundry - and drive me around - and I don't have to talk to anyone!
/
Girl: The incidental labors of everyday life hold us together
Cat: So much of my time is WASTED by other people!
/
Cat: So I invented social media - where I could broadcast to an audience - instead of engaging with people individually - and now I don't have to talk to anyone!
/
Girl: Our incidental encounters make us a society
Cat: I don't have to leave home to watch a movie - I don't have to leave home to get takeout - I don't have to choose what music to listen to - I just say, "Siri! Play music"
/
Cat: I've eliminated the friction
Girl: The friction is the meaning
Cat: I got rid of the inefficiencies
Girl: The inefficiency is HUMANITY
/
Cat: and now I can turn my FULL ATTENTION to my GREATEST WORK
/
Cat: a computer that will talk to me.
Phone: FEED ME SEYMOUR

Full detailed image of a star factory. Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex is the closest star-forming region to Earth, and producing several sun-like stars each year. 🔭 🧪

$Red dual opposing jets coming from young stars fill the darker top half of the image, while a glowing pale-yellow, cave-like structure is bottom centre, tilted toward two o’clock, with a bright star at its centre. The dust of the cave structure becomes wispy toward eight o’clock. Above the arched top of the dust cave three groupings of stars with diffraction spikes are arranged. A dark cloud sits at the top of the arch of the glowing dust cave, with one streamer curling down the right-hand side. The dark shadow of the cloud appears pinched in the centre, with light emerging in a triangle shape above and below the pinch, revealing the presence of a star inside the dark cloud. The image’s largest jets of red material emanate from within this dark cloud, thick and displaying structure like the rough face of a cliff, glowing brighter at the edges. At the top centre of the image, a star displays another, larger pinched dark shadow, this time vertically.$
