Possible plague death at a Siberian lab baffles scientists. However, the risk of a wider outbreak is exceedingly small. Pneumonic plague can spread between people, but not as efficiently as the influenza or COVID-19. Untreated patients soon get very sick and are unlikely to spread the infection.
