QNAP branded ConnectX-6 Lx cards were a steal back when I got a bunch, but QNAP in their wisdom have not upgraded the firmware since 2021. Pretty abysmal for something that’s still getting updates from NVIDIA five years later. Also the card has a fan, so cross flashing isn’t very appealing.

So leap seconds were abolished from next year, making the one scheduled for December 31 this year the last one ever. Positive: I get to tear down all the leap second smearing infrastructure we have Negative: very little motivation now to do the firmware update and associated downtime my […]

One of the many reasons we ditched Cloudflare back in the day was their inability to distinguish between DDoS attacks and push notifications, like this one:

Shit you notice as an ISP: UniFi routers on default settings* simply pass conntrack-invalid packets from the local network to the WAN interface as-is with the RFC 1918 source address in place “Hey mr ISP so I failed to NAT this packet from 192.168.1.58 because the conntrack expired but I […]

A slightly bad look that Ookla includes speedtest servers from H2NEXUS (AS215730) on their default server list while the AS itself is on Spamhaus’s ASN-DROP list. Bad actors getting tons of incoming connections from random speedtest users maybe isn't great?
