Compelling offer for disgruntled admins I guess
From: Elaine Delaney
Subject: Your Team's Email and Slack History

Hi Marko,
Fair warning, this is an unusual ask: would Richie consider selling an anonymised copy of its old Slack and email history?
Al labs want real examples of how work gets done: how a decision gets argued through, how a client issue gets resolved. Not who your clients are. So names, clients and passwords are removed before anything leaves, you decide the scope, and your original data stays exactly where it is.
We buy it outright, once, from US$20,000. We have an active mandate right now and are moving fast, so we can close within a day or two.
If you're interested, just send me how many employees you have or had at peak and how long you've been in business, and I'll come back with a figure.
Elaine

One of the many reasons we ditched Cloudflare back in the day was their inability to distinguish between DDoS attacks and push notifications, like this one:

Had fun over the weekend building my own take on Tierra, Tom Ray's digital life simulation from the 90s. I remember reading about it in WIRED, then running it briefly on my own machine. It's so much easier to experiment with this stuff using today's […] [Original post on mastodon.online]

A “Professional Installation Attestation” from MikroTik to the FCC about the hAP be lite, stating, among other things, that

"This device is designed and intended for industrial use only. It is not intended for residential use, and shall not be installed in a residential environment. Installation must be performed by professional
personnel in industrial or commercial facilities only.”

My OLED TV is feeling a tad too organic tonight. The top edge started drooping like this (along the whole top, this is just a closeup) after the TV wasn’t used in a couple of weeks. Watching a couple of hours of TV fixed it up. It needed a content top-up?

Here's where I landed on the “not VPN but VPN" dilemma. Use your home line remotely. Also I planned for this to be a paid add-on, but decided to make it free instead because if it's hard to explain it's going to be tough to sell…

Scaring folks into keeping the built-in firewall on with a blocked connections graph is not a dark pattern, right? Right? Riiiight?

My first big haul to the island. Hardware store guy was slightly bemused when he saw the car I intended to move this in. He should’ve seen the boat…
