Economically, kids cost so much money and are so much work. The majority of that work benefits society, not the parents. The emotional rewards all exist outside of capitalism, and parallel the emotional rewards of other pro-social behaviors, like mutual aid, that capitalism can't quantify (and […]

The wealthy parents behind the curtain

A four-panel comic:

Panel 1: A magician on stage dressed in a tuxedo, flourising a top hat, tells the audience "And for my next trick ..."

Panel 2: The magician pulls a document titled "DEED" from his hat, and a woman with two children appears next to him, as he tells the audieince "I'll purchase a home on a single income while my partner stays at home to raise our kids!"

Panel 3: The audience applauses enthusiastically.

Panel 4: One audience member stands and points backstage, where an older man and woman are partiallyl seen holding a sack of money marked "$." The audience member shouts "I can see his parents financially assisting him behind the curtain!" The magician on stage has a guilty look on his face and drops his top hat.

#Digimon's (endlessly) branching evolutions are part of its appeal and i wish the shows made better use of that instead of giving each digimon user a single fixed evolution route I think Davis using Exveemon, Veedramon, and Flamedramon in Adventures 02 was the closest we got?
