Nearly 10 months of this chronic pain runaround with my jaw, which then effects my ear and neck. It's not this bad all the time anymore, but it's still clearly not fixed. Probably going to have to take something for it today. I need to check in with my family doc again; I see my RMT tomorrow.

Me pointing to exactly where on my face jaw area. I feel literally like a knot or lump or abscess or something is there, and that has decided to flare up and hurt today.

Yeah, I miss the days of getting all the computing I needed done on cheap netbooks or less, and it's obnoxious that I can have a phone with the same power as a laptop, but that phone doesn't run a full OS when docked. The candle's burning at both ends here, and consumers are the ones getting burnt.

Another example of why making TV is fucked now: Big Bang Theory's newest spin-off is produced on a "10 episodes a season, two years to make a season" schedule. Even the lowest common denominator Chuck Lorre sitcom machine now makes streaming shows at the same speed as Stranger Things!

It's not like it translates into better paychecks or anything for the actors and the writers either. If anything, the overhead is probably mostly going into executive producer credits. I just don't see how this model doesn't make the entire career path for nearly everyone involved more fragile.

Yes, it's definitely more efficient whenever these models have hard coded a concept in its native format of weights, such as when a full compiler is embedded in a model & the memory is used more like flash cards than raw sentences, as KV caching kind of does, but it doesn't change the core weights.

KV provides big speed ups for sure, but until we can leverage modeling approaches on hardware that naturally can rebalance a network on the fly, almost replacing context windows & cache with the model as the memory, it's closer to plinko, but with shortcut paths, rather than something fully dynamic.

I've been using the "AI is plinko/pachinko" metaphor since the bubble lit off, as it easily shows why it's not like a person. The extent to which a real brain is similar at all, its pins rearrange, move & bend with every drop. A DNN's are fixed, needing every puck dropped again for each reply.

if the capabilities of this model were only half as bad as what these researchers found it’d still be cause to go delete all personal data off of meta’s platform. pairing a chatbot interface with the hyperinvasive data collection meta does and then surfacing that tool to the *public* is indefensible

Yeah, I'm not clicking the main video, but the level of incompetency here is mindblowingly bad. It wouldn't have taken much forethought to avoid nearly every problem by creating an order of generation, an organized pipeline for backgrounds & characters, but that's too much effort for these types.

Yeah, many folks are already changing their buying & viewing habits the second they get a whiff of slop in the mix, as it implies a lack of care/effort. If someone can't take a photo of their own food & throw it in docs with text, are they cleaning the kitchen? Feels iffy, thus some then avoid it.
