Watching Supergirl and I understand why they wanted to change stuff from Tom King's excellent series. They're *wrong*, but I get it. The book doesn't feel like your typical superhero affair, and even though that's what makes it good, it can make producers nervous. ...But wtf was Lobo doing in it?

Sell... books? What? No, you buy more bookshelves and slowly expand your library until it takes up every room in your house. Then you buy a bigger house, like a literary hermit crab.

Been reliving 9/11 every year for a quarter century now. I feel like I will be forever. The generations that came later don't understand, and it's good that they don't. I wish I didn't. We lost so much I don't know if we can ever recover. Maybe it'll be better when we're gone.

It's always fun when the #Warhammer #40k community gets weirdly obsessed with some random detail. Like "Oh hey, today we're doing a deep dive into twenty year old magazine articles and lore about #T'au nasal slits and sexual dimorphism."

I love, love, LOVE these #trans #Spider-Man #fanart that have been popping up, but I do wish the original trans Spider would get some love too:

Just got back from seeing the new Spider-Man film and after doing really well the last few tries, I feel like they really dropped the ball on this one.

“What a beautiful universe, hon" says a telescope as gazes upon an aurora borealis. “It really is”, responds the telescope's partner, who it turns out is not a telescope, but a microscope. Hands full of algae, she wades waist deep in a disgusting swamp, amazed by the heavenly microscopic life all around them.

My variant cover for ACTION COMICS #1100!!! This is one of my all time favorite covers. I made it quite a while ago, not sure when it was coming out. I was thrilled and honored when I learned it was going to be released on this landmark issue of Action Comics! Whooo! #DCComics

It's distressing that the only thing truly surprising about the Pentagon calling up the Vatican's ambassador to threaten them with military action is that they knew enough history to drop a reference to the Avignon popes in there. #IHateItHere

Ashley Cope's "Unsounded" is the best webcomic ever made and it's not even close. It's not even that the art is fantastic, though it is. It's not that the story is epic and worldbuilding immaculate, they are. It's that no other webcomic has embraced the possibilities of digital storytelling like it.

I'm not sure pairing the Olympics (a representation of the ideal of human achievement) and AI commercials (a representation of the abandonment of human achievement) works in any thematic way other than "We live in Hell and irony is dead."

Feels like society’s really broken down in the US in a way that’s deeply traumatic. But also there are college students knocking on doors asking for shovels (they’re not well-prepared) and helping trapped motorists by shoveling and pushing out cars. Up to 24 of them now, wandering streets together

Destroy All Monsters (1968)
The first of two frames from Destroy All Monsters (1968).
A man wearing a yellow rubber glove is holding a phone up to his ear. He is laughing while talking. There are some 1960's esque "futuristic" tech in the background.
The caption reads, "I'm joking."The second of two frames from Destroy All Monsters (1968).
The same as before but now the man is no longer smiling or laughing, he has a very concerned look on his face.
The caption reads, "Well, half joking. We're a bit concerned."

Ignoring the absolutely horrific existential crisis America threatening to invade Greenland is causing for a moment, it is a great example of the failure of the anti-cooperative approach to national security. The theory Trump and his ilk have been running with is that reliance on partners weakens...

It's been thirty years and I still miss it. It's occurred to me many times that the internet could have given Watterson the artistic freedom he fought for his whole career if only he weren't so anti-technology. ...Probably best he didn't. I know I hate dealing with the internet most days.
Final Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Calvin and Hobbes are trudging through the snow, hauling their toboggan.
Calvin: "Wow, it really snowed last night! Isn't it wonderful?"
Hobbes: Everything familiar has disappeared! The world looks brand-new!"
Calvin: "A new year... A fresh, clean start!"
Hobbes: "It's like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on!"
Calvin: "A day full of possibilities!"
The pair get on their toboggan and begin sledding down the hill.
Calvin: "It's a magical world, Hobbes ol' buddy... Let's go exploring!"

Loved "Wake Up Dead Man." Not the best *mystery* movie, but it's a great movie about Christianity and grace. I fear there are a lot of Christians who would find it greatly beneficial to reflect on the themes of the film who will resolutely refuse to do so and claim offense.

Turns out that while my insurance covers post-operative appointments with my doctors, it doesn't consider surgery outside of a surgical suite to be an operation. Therefore my post-op appointment is in fact a regular appointment and I need to pay the full out of pocket price. Fuck insurance.

If you're fortunate enough to have the means and security to donate things, may I recommend buying some extra non-perishable goods whenever you restock and giving them to a food bank? I dropped some off at the local library and will try to keep doing this for as long as the shutdown is going on.

Tiff and Eve standing in a kitchen talking. Eve: "There are trans people online giving 'Deadname Passes' to use on Caitlyn Jenner. Are we doing that now?" Tiff: "Gosh, no. Deadnaming isn't just an insult, it's a rejection of that person's identity and an attempt to invalidate her and other people's transitions. She's done horrid damage to the trans community, but we still shouldn't call her Bruce. There is another name you can call her though." Eve: "What?" Tiff, shouting: "Benedict ****-ing Arnold!" Eve: "I like it when you get angry."
