In theory, anyway. It was more a psychological comfort than meaningful defense in practice.

"F-bomb"? Do you mean Fuck? The word Fuck? The common and in fact nigh-ubiquitous fuck word? Who the fuck cares? Fuck the fucking fuckers. You're fucking adults, use the fucking word.

A solution in search of a problem.

People are rightfully pointing out that temporarily legalizing red dye diesel will screw with either tax enforcement or require large scale parts replacement, but something I've seen overlooked is this is going to make RDD more expensive too since the demand will increase. Good luck farmers.

He's clearly traveled into the future, saw you were going to post that, then traveled back in order to make the video to release soon after in order to use your clout as free advertising. It's the only possibility that makes sense.

I thought you meant with public witnesses (Which is still bad, but an important part of punitive transparency), but this is just fucking monstrous.

Well, the continent was pointing tens of thousands of nuclear missiles at each other, so it wasn't really that they "started getting along" after WW2 so much as the seeds for them getting along were planted, those seeds being the existential threat of the USSR.

I hate arguing with people. I understand the problem is me, but that doesn't make it hurt any less when people start thinking I'm a bad person because I can't express myself like other people. It's exhausting and my eyes hurt and I wish I could convince one person my thoughts have value.

Would be nice. Took eighty million dead to do that last time.

And surrendering doesn't work because that's just marginalizing the other half of the country. So we're either going to have to find a compromise or fight a civil war.

I don't disagree, but we can't marginalize half the country. I don't mean that in a moral way, I mean it's unsustainable. It will result in a level of violence Americans just haven't experienced in a century and a half. We have to convince them to support us, surrender, or accept millions of deaths.

I love the social class distinction between two people who are equally wealthy and both get their money passively through land ownership, but one gets paid through rent payments from tenant farmers and the other gets paid from a mineral rights lease for a coal mine. Victorians had too many layers.

Obviously late to the forty year old comic/cartoon series Ranma 1/2, but I've been watching the new Netflix series and it's fantastic. If I'd watched it a few decades ago it probably could have saved me a lot of angst. Meaningless complaint though, it really should be Ranma 2/2.

Incidentally, I do hope there are some people working on that. Like not a lot, we have time, but someone.

It's 100% on the people ordering. You say a burger has Thousand Island and no one will touch it. You say it's "Special Sauce" and it's suddenly fine.

More often as you get closer to retirement, but it's not something you need to keep too close an eye on. It's one of those things where it'll be the value it'll be and there's not much you can do about it.

It's disturbing how much more people care about gas prices than literally everything else. Concentration camps? Fine. Threatening our allies with invasion? Alright. Bombing a school? Shit happens. Even trying to overthrow the government gets forgiven, apparently. High gas prices? Too far.

In North Florida we call it 'Eetery' or 'Gator Eatin' Day. The celebration is self-explanatory, but the name comes from an old Timucua word for Alligator (itori). Recently, etymologists have posited the theory that this is the origin of the word 'Eatery' but opinions are divided.

I cannot blame you in the slightest. I wish I knew you were on here so I could have said this earlier, but thank you so much. Calvin and Hobbes meant so much to me as a kid and then again as an adult appreciating the quality you provided a silly little "funnie." God bless you, Mr. Watterson.

I feel like any person who would actively seek out the ability to raise a clone of a specific person from childhood should be banned from raising children. Like I'm not saying it's inherently a bad thing, but that if we did that then we'd save ourselves a lot of trouble.

Point of order: Ranged weapons aren't strength, they're a dexterity based stat, which is potentially more deadly since it raises your AC as well.

Watching Supergirl and I understand why they wanted to change stuff from Tom King's excellent series. They're *wrong*, but I get it. The book doesn't feel like your typical superhero affair, and even though that's what makes it good, it can make producers nervous. ...But wtf was Lobo doing in it?

It turns the story of Robin Hood into a metaphor for the Iraq war and adds a conspiracy theory that there's a shadowy cabal (the Catholic Church) orchestrating everything in order to maintain wealth and power. I wouldn't say it's racist, but I'd guess they have opinions on the Rothschilds.

...Until the end, anyway, when Starlord decided not to tell anybody about the alien-killing bioweapon millions of people sacrificed themselves to make. That was pretty dumb.

And they don't care about contaminating the timeline because they've already accepted theirs is lost. This is all explicitly stated in the movie. Despite people's insistence, it is genuinely internally consistent.

Doesn't work. They can't choose the time period they're sending people back to, they have that one link 29 years back. They also can't send people back (or forward) in time to a point where they already exist, so nobody with the prerequisite biomedical experience can go back.

The future people were creating a bioweapon to combat the aliens, with the intent on sending it into the past for them to use when the aliens appear. But they needed to buy time and launch an offensive to acquire samples, neither of which they could do with their manpower.

We've spent the last fifty years listening to every national politician in the country promising to move heaven and Earth to bring back coal mining and factory jobs. Even the ones that recognized the impossibility poured billions into financial assistance and retraining. So that's where we were.

A) No. There's no justice in a perpetrator suffering like that. It doesn't stop them from doing it again, it doesn't provide restitution, in the scenario it's not even a deterrent. It'd just feel good and that's not enough of a reason to make someone suffer. B) Yes. C) Yes.

Sell... books? What? No, you buy more bookshelves and slowly expand your library until it takes up every room in your house. Then you buy a bigger house, like a literary hermit crab.

Been reliving 9/11 every year for a quarter century now. I feel like I will be forever. The generations that came later don't understand, and it's good that they don't. I wish I didn't. We lost so much I don't know if we can ever recover. Maybe it'll be better when we're gone.

1) "D Comics" sounds like male-centric pornography company. 2) They're going to get sued for that one by DC. 3) They already have Boom! Studios and Marvel Comics, why not just use those?

Like they don't necessarily *like* the communists, but what they'd really like is that things would largely stay the same, but they make enough money to get a new washing machine or somebody fixes the potholes or little things like that. People want good lives.
