Oregon needs statewide tax reform. Which leads to the question: What’s a major tax reform proposal that you think would start at 55% or better before the opposition messaging starts? (Spoiler: no one has found one yet…)

Lots of critiques of the Democrats rest of shaky arguments about messaging and priorities among DC leadership. But that's not the real reason we should be raking them over the coals

If you’re pitting urban trees against infill housing you’re doing environmentalism wrong. The threat to our urban forest isn’t development, it’s the climate crisis. New housing within the city helps lower emissions and saves trees.

Yes! THIS! To save the planet from climate catastrophe, we need a RAPID buildout of transmission capacity to move all that new wind and solar power to the people who need it. Stop with the small-minded NIMBY objections. The planet is at stake!

What could we do to allow/encourage developers to produce more housing for people with less or much less ability to pay high rents, as opposed to relying on filtering? Reduce mandates (e.g. parking), reduce impact fees, eliminate maximum unit count or minimum unit size. Allow SROs. What else?

More housing — at every income level — everywhere — as soon as possible! It’s time to ask, of every single policy, “will this help or hinder the speedy production of more housing?!”

Corollary: Complaining about what “the Democrats” are doing or saying, as if Democrats agree on damn near anything at all. (And especially if your complaint is about things leftist non-Democrats are doing/saying.)

Check your damn bag. And hot tip for the airlines: Make checked baggage free (two bags) and charge for carry-ons. Your on time departures will go up, passengers will exit the plane faster, FAs will be happier, and all will be well.
