I've been with the same insurance provider for 30+ years. Was home + auto, then tenant + auto, & for the past several years, just tenant coverage. It hasn't gone up much recently but this year quoted a 13.5% increase. 1st quote is 40% less than last year's premium. Same coverage.

"No one feels safe there" being said about somewhere I'm in every week drives me crazy. It's right up there with the headlines about downtown not being safe. Most of these things are being said and written by people who don't spend any time here. Are there issues? Of course. But it isn't 'unsafe'

Similar lesson here. Have switched away from US brands for many small, regular purchases (hand lotion, face cream, etc). Never going back.

A small, simple hand-drawn outline of a child on a solid black background. The child's shirt is bright orange, and the rest of the figure is drawn in soft grey. Beneath it, in small grey serif type, are the words 'September 30, 2026.

True! Today I waited at a crosswalk. When I got the right of way, a Jeep right turned (on his red) almost into me. I yelled & threw up my hands after he completed his turn (I stopped to wait on him). He went around the block to come back & yell at me. 'You didn't even come close to getting killed'

New 'I must look old' level achieved! Was asked at airport security screening if I have any 'internal metal'. I must have looked confused (I was!) because she immediately clarified 'artificial knee or hip, etc' Okay then ... I'm 'that old'🧓

I chose to have a mini vacation in Eastern Ontario so that I could attend Dumpster Dude's (also known as @lovemustwin.bsky.social or Steven)art show. Go to the @oconnorgallery.bsky.social in Gananoque to see his photos as well as amazing other art. Buy art!!!

Photos from the mural on the walls of the walkway that can be seen from my hotel room windows

The first panel of the mural depicts a building. The building is done in shades of gray and the surrounding wall is in blues

The next panel in the mural shows a tree, a man walking a dog, and in between are these lyrics
First thing we'd climb a tree, And maybe then we'd talk, or sit silently, and listen to our thoughts. With illusions of someday cast in golden light, no dress rehearsal, this is our life
Gord Downie

The next couple of panels in the mural are also in blue and gray. The words where is appear next to a map of downtown Kingston The fourth panel is in the distance

Was looking for a photo on my phone, and found this one of Wysh. This was taken at the #MvsW afternoon bar meetup that I coordinated when he was in town for McDavid's first game. I'm pretty sure he's to showing off his tie for @generationxwing.bsky.social to rate.

A gathering tonight for the sadiversary - it's been one year since the passing of Dr Darren Markland. It was a lovely evening to be outside and the sun gave us a long show as it set.

The back of a statue of a police officer can be seen on the left with a gathering of people standing around park benches in front of the statue. In the distance is a lovely sunset

The lens of privilege reveals itself when people defend their need for a car /disdain for transit or cycling by posting things like 'try taking the bus home with groceries for your family'. There are hundreds of people doing that in every city. They don't have a vehicle or a bike.

140

Karen Douglas 🇨🇦 @karenbdc.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Context: if people have to drive for work & use the most economical vehicle possible - this is a terrible situation & going to get worse. Also, I like this politician so not quoting the post but the victimhood🤬. No one forced people to choose massive pickup trucks & SUVs as personal vehicles.

$The post text reads 'Gas is over $1.80\L. Diesel is over $2.30\L in some communities. Albertans are paying the price. We can't just stop driving. The UCP could suspend the gas tax and provide immediate relief, but they're choosing not to.'$

Accurate depiction of how the NHL, the NHL teams & all the feeder systems (CHL, etc) address 'controversial' issues. Sexual assault, verbal abuse, physical abuse, etc. are 'addressed' via mandatory seminars. If you are a senior executive, you must also say "I've learned" in a sincere voice 🤬

I see that Stephen Mandel and Bill Smith are still assholes. I guess some people never change. Both still hedgehogs (Isaiah Berlin "the Fox knows many things but the hedgehog knows one thing") living in the past committed to that one thing that worked for them. Happy to say "good riddance" to them.

I think there's a lot of nuance to the answer about leaving the province that will effect the economic impact on real estate. Obviously, 'plan to leave' is easy to say & harder to do. The economic impact could already starting. Real estate market is slowing down & job losses seem to be starting.
