We will continue to care, and to work toward building a housing system that works for everyone. 090
Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Nevertheless, despair is not necessary here. We have a growing community of people in Alberta who understand the social and economic implications of our antipathy to housing, and are actively advocating for housing reform. 190
Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026@thatheatherc.bsky.social messaged me this morning and advised me to not despair. I'm fairly numb to the general malevolence and hypocrisy of this government, but it's still incredibly demoralizing to watch the premier take this one bright light in our province and stomp on it. 1162

Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Oh yeah, they staged a coup and I was a neighbourhood pariah for a couple of years. Banff Trail isn't the only CA that has seen major turnover due to development though... I'd love to see the city take CAs out of the public engagement equation. 030
Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026It had more to do with the ones on the south side, which are as yet unbuilt. The one on the north side was only built because it’s not part of the restrictive covenant. Litigation on the covenant sucked up enough money and time that the ones on the south side were no longer economically viable. 110

Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026For a few years Banff Trail has not had a development committee, and it’s been nice. The CA focused on social events and the garden plots. Planning has been divisive and rancorous in this neighbourhood before, and likely will be again. 1110
Kathryn Davies @kaphryn.bsky.social · 24/09/2026They’re not wrong, community association input carries weight with the city. But should it? There are less than 25 people at this meeting, a handful want to use the CA to advance an anti-development agenda. This is hardly representative. 1120
