A mood board for Forewarning:

A 3x3 grid of 9 squares

Top L: a photo by Ana M. on Pexels of a woman's hand holding a crystal ball in the woods. The trees are reflected upside down in the ball.

Top center: the words "Prince Cole and Captain Lucas"

Bottom center: the words "Rumors of close bodyguarding behind palace doors"

Bottom R: a photo by Nadin Sh on Pexels of a blurred woman walking past a gold curtain

A pitch for my novel

Queer Romance FOREWARNING

Prince Cole doesn't know why he psychically sees people's doppelgangers acting out the future, but it does come in handy. Cole's other secret not so much—he's desperately in love with his childhood best friend, royal guardsman Lucas, not least because Luc staunchly supports Cole being an openly nonbinary royal.

Unfortunately, Cole can't marry a guardsman, and sweet, introverted Luc would never want to be a royal spouse anyway. But when a head of state is murdered and Cole's life is threatened, Luc steps in as Cole's 24/7 bodyguard.

Together they must find a legendary weapon of mass destruction that threatens their own lives—and millions more. (And really, it would be easier for Cole to concentrate if his gorgeous bodyguard wasn't wandering around their room half-naked, but whatever. It's fine.)

Comps for Forewarning

FOREWARNING is a bit like if Dean Koontz's ODD THOMAS was an upbeat queer romance. It will appeal to readers who enjoy K.J. Charles's DOOMSDAY series for its queer love story, strong B-plot, spice level, and titled/commoner dynamics; and the sassy tone of Alexis Hall's 10 THINGS THAT NEVER HAPPENED.

Details of Forewarning:

Logline: A psychic nonbinary prince trying to solve a royal murder mystery must hide his romantic feelings when his guardsman best friend (and forbidden secret crush) becomes his bodyguard.

Genres: Queer Romance, Low Fantasy, Adult, Contemporary

Length: 54,000 words

An excerpt from Chapter 3: Gathering Storm, from Touched by Sage T. Greene.
“What on earth brings you here at this hour?” he asked. “And in this weather?”
“I…” Erryn’s voice was rather small.
Rolfe took a long look at him. Erryn looked like the forlorn hero of some great tragedy, beleaguered, caught under a heavy weight. The rain had slicked his dark hair and drenched his clothes; they clung to him as if he and they were sculpted from the same piece of marble. The lingering embers in Rolfe began to crackle. “Come in, then,” he instructed, gesturing for Erryn to close the door behind himself and join him. “Sit by the stove. I’ve avoided your death once today already—I’ll not have you cross me by contracting some grievous cold.”
Erryn closed the stable door and followed Rolfe into the little kitchenette. There was a two-person table, cabinetry, and a charcoal stove for heating meals. Coals still burned from Rolfe’s earlier dinner. Rolfe pulled the chairs to sit in front of the stove, and together they took their places. Rolfe himself had been thoroughly doused by the rain, and he held his hands out to regain some warmth.
Despite the cramped space, Erryn felt that he had regained the ability to breathe. “Thank you,” he said coarsely.

WEDNESDAY x IT (2017) Denny super messed up. In his quest to find his missing sister, he burned down some houses to kill some monsters, which released a serial killer ghost. To make things worse, the only medium who can help would rather play the cello than save strangers. #QueerPit #YA #M #H

A collage image that says An Agent's Guide to Reach Out a 85,000 word YA horror/fantasy with mystery elements. The collage is made up ripped papers that are black or have words on them then in the top right corner is a polaroid of a girl in a hoodie climbing into an empty pool then in the bottom right are colorful tarot cards of death on a white horse, the fool walking off a cliff and wolves howling at the moon, in the bottom left is a cassette tape labeled "In case I disappear"

Lined paper with a polaroid of a mauseleum in the top left corner. The top says "The Pitch" and it is circled in red with the following words: Well, Denny sure messed up this time. He had one goal. One goal! And failed. Somehow, rather than finding his missing sister, he released a serial killer ghost with a penchant for drowning people.

And if that wasn’t already a lot, the one person in town who can see ghosts would rather play the cello than save strangers.

Lined paper that is split into two sections the first says Tropes/Rep and is circled in red then a torn out note page is taped to the paper that says the following: Found Family
Epistolary Interludes
Rewind, Replay, Repeat
Witchcraft
Meddling Kids
Missing Person
Unsolved Mysteries & Urban Legends
Ghostly Goals
90s Vibes

Underneath is another taped ripped page featuring the following pride pins: Trans, Asexual, Lesbian, Progress Pride

The other side says Comps at the top and is circled in red then there are photo booth style images hanging. The left from top to bottom: A random image of a maseleum and then Enid and Wednesday from Wednesday over the image; A building with an old sign out front with the Mystery Gang from Scooby-Doo; A cemetery photograph with the cast from IT (2017) standing there; a long white hallway of a bomb shelter and the two characters from Dead Boy Detectives.

The right from top to bottom: The Underwood Tapes by Amanda Dewitt book cover wih two people facing opposite ways and tape around them from a cassette; The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson book cover which is a blue and white with a faded scene of a street; Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake book cover with a woman's back as she stands in fog looking at a building; Dead Flip by Sara Farizan book cover with several characters looming over an arcade

Lined paper that says a snippet at the top and is cirlced in red and beside it is a destroyed casette tape then the following words: Dear listener who is probably just Denny.

I bet you’re chuckling now ‘cause I’m right, aren’t I?
Anyway, this is my ‘in case I disappear’ tape but the rest is a real treat for you.

It’s some impressive project I’ve been working on.
Though if I am missing, tell mom it wasn’t the monsters, but I’m, like, studying archeology at some college where I’m on some research trip with the professor to find the amulet. Then really buckle down and be all like ‘You know, the amulet? How do you not know about the amulet? What kind of mom are you?’ until she cries or something then you can tell the truth. I want her to feel bad for always being ‘too busy.’ "

TO BECOME THE MOON

A dual-POV adult romantasy steeped in Nahua (Pipil) belief*, set against the lush tapestry of precolonial Central America.

QUERY

Itotia, a healer’s apprentice struggling to meet her mentor’s expectations, sees visions when she touches others. She believes it’s a sign of possession—an omen warranting exile or death—until her attempted banishment ritual truly binds her to the god she calls on. But the moon deity, Metztli, is self-serving and nothing like who Itotia thought she worshipped.

Metztli, the exiled moon deity, has been confined to the human realm for showing emotion. They bargain with the wicked gods: Metztli will deliver unknowing Itotia to the divine realm in exchange for a broken bond and their returned seat in the sky.

The two can hardly get through a conversation, let alone a tethered line of thought. They begin to relish how Itotia challenges them, just as Itotia starts to admire the way Metztli defines a being’s worth. Itotia’s determination to excel is engulfing, and soon, Metztli’s certainty in the irreversible bargain morphs into dread for the day Itotia discovers it.

Comp titles with arrows pointing the specific tropes of each book: The Legend of Meneka by Kritika H. Rao (non-western mythology, lush prose) The Deer and the Dragon by Piper CJ (fickle gods, bargains) North is the Night by Emily Rath (fairytale feel, bargains) Her Soul for a Crown by Alysha Rameera (Bargains, Fairytale Feel, Tethered Love interests) Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy (tethered love interests, enemies to lovers)

EXCERPT

Where humans regarded earth-given gifts as currency, gods traded in favours.

Perhaps that was the reason they mistook us for desiring hand-carved trinkets and the cacao beans that splattered on the jungle floor with as much allure as the droppings of a bird. They hurled them to the ground, made some demands, then slapped their hands together a few times and called it divinity.

Through all the glares and angered roars, I held my attention on only one form: a narrow-framed shaman with a bloodied cheek the perfect echo of mine. Beautiful as she was, she would be my death.

Of that, I was already sure.

HOW TO COME HOME: Historical Context Edition aka, the real-life inspirations I shook up in a blender and used to write a book! #queerpit #HF #HR #A #amquerying

HOW TO COME HOME
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
A blurred digital painting of two men, one with dark curly hair and wearing a maroon sweater, one with blond hair and wearing a shirt with suspenders and glasses around his neck, both seated at a piano.

(Women in) Optometry
In history:
The early 20th century saw a great deal of advancements in the field of optometry in America. The first predecessor of the American Optometric Association (as it’s known today) formed in 1898, and the first university-based schools of optometry opened in the first decades of the century. Breakthroughs were made in procedures like the corneal transplant, cataract surgery, and greater awareness of the effects of eye strain.
Getrude Stanton of Minnesota and Mollie Armstrong of Texas were two early women optometrists, both of whom first practiced in the early years of the century, and two women served as charter members of the AOA.

In HTCH:
In the age of LASIK and heightened optometrical technology, it can be hard to rationalize eyesight as a category of disability when a character is not completely blind—or, at least, that’s been my experience in media. In giving Lawrence a medical history that draws on my own, I wanted to give a more nuanced portrayal influenced by the realities of eye care in the 20th century, and having his vision be a central part of his character and relevant to HTCH‘s overall plot is my way of forefronting the varied experiences of folks who have visual impairments/disabilities.
Of course, in creating the character of Veronica—Lawrence’s best friend and confidant—researching the realities of women in optometry in the 20th century was, if you’ll excuse the pun, eye-opening. While the familiar barrier to women in higher education existed then as they do now, the existence of women like Gertrude Stanton and Mollie Armstrong (particularly as women from the South/Midwest!) provided a basis for me to extrapolate on.

Recommended reading: Recommended reading: “Mollie Wright Armstrong: Pioneer Woman Optometrist” by Gertrude Chambers, “Gertrude Stanton” by Viktoria Davis and Lilian Vogl, the American Optometric Association

WAYFARERS x MURDERBOT x SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN Everything fell apart when the human came aboard. Instead of nice meals and quiet cargo runs, ship's cook Tai is stuck with bickering crewmates, sinister criminals, explosions, and worse, a human who wants to be friends. #QueerPit #A #Q #R #SF

Mood board/Agent's guide for my novel CARGO - a queer SF/heist/romance - 110,000 words

"Did you hear? There's a human on board."
A graphic of the wall of a spaceship with sticky notes and polaroid photos taped up. There are twinkle lights hanging from the ceiling.
alien ship's cook (fussy, anxious) + terrifying monster (ordinary human)

PITCH:
Tai’s terrified of humans. Everyone is. Violent pack hunters, humans are notorious for their strength, sharp teeth, and carnivorous appetites. But the ship’s cook is safe among the multispecies crew of the cargo hauler Coreward Baker: everyone knows the warrior species rarely leave their own space. Then Captain Raz hires Clarke, a human horticulturist.
Even after Tai overcomes their fear, they can’t stand Clarke. She’s bossy. Annoying. Useless in the galley, bad in a space suit. She might as well be cargo. Worse, she’s intent on befriending Tai—and why can’t they stop thinking about her, anyway?
That’s when things go wrong. As Tai starts to realize their feelings for Clarke, they’re horrified to learn that nobody on their crew of dropouts and runaways is quite who they seem, least of all Clarke. And it’s no coincidence. Raz reveals they’ve each been handpicked for a heist he’s spent years planning—and no one’s allowed to say no.

PRIORITIES:
make dinner
remain cozy
haul cargo
go for drinks
pull off one last score
try not to fall in love

FIRST PAGE:

“Did you hear? There’s a Human on board.”
I choked on my noodles and turned to stare at the diners at the next table. Like most of the restaurant’s patrons, the pair had hidden their profiles, a halfhearted attempt at anonymity.
“Gross,” the speaker’s crewmate said, oblivious to my alarm. “I hope it leaves soon.”
“Don’t let it hear you say that,” the first worker laughed. She made a show of looking for Humans, her eyes darting from table to table.
It. I frowned. I knew the workers’ language distinguished between people and things, and ‘it’ was an unkind choice of words at best.
The second worker shuddered. “I don’t know why we let themcome here.”
The first laughed. “Are you going to stop them?”

COMPS:
Murderbot by Martha Wells
Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wisewell
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

TROPES:
Non-binary narrator masking anxiety with sarcasm
lying to themselves
non-human perspective (afraid of humans)
neurodivergent main characters
metaphorically disabled protagonist
slow-burn friends-to-lovers and enemies to lovers in the same relationship
disabilitynorm and queernorm setting
found family
loveable pet/terrifying monster

SHARP OBJECTS x THE SHAPE OF WATER a young artist needs the perfect portrait for art college. her muse? her mother — but not only does she disappear to the local pond, she is also a nymph and has no intention to leave. #queerpit #spf #mr #a

(picture of a pond) Nymph's Pond - an adult fantasy novel

The pitch:
Small towns gossip... and being different may prove fatal to her mother and Damla...
Damla wants nothing more than to get into art college. But when her mother, the person she’d most like to draw, disappears into the town’s local pond, Damla must set out to retrieve her — only to realize that not only is her mother a nymph, she has no intention to leave that place.
And what’s so special about that pond anyway? Damla uncovers a secret that could upend her life as she knows it... and powers she never knew she had.

Comps to the left:
* Kaveh Akbar's MARTYR! (künstlerroman)
* Kelly Link's BOOK OF LOVE (small-town magic)
* Zen Cho's BLACK WATER SISTER (filial piety vs freedom)
* THE SHAPE OF WATER (dir. Guillermo del Toro) (inter-species (queer) romance)
To the right - themes & elements:
* a small-town with a secret
* the struggles of a young artist
* nymphs as sea-creatures
* female-centric & sapphic cast
* complicated mother-daughter relationships

Snippet:
Her mother, clearer than ever, and yes, more home than ever, too. Wet and looking calm, no unnecessary skin on her, thin but not skeletal, gaunt but not haunted. Blond hair almost golden from the water. Hazel eyes glimmering like polished wood. This was an image that Waterhouse would not have messed up. He’d have thought of it, and here it was, right in front of Damla, her own, personal Undine. But in her head, the image turned out ugly just by having Damla’s name on it. She thought of the arm that she had drawn earlier that day, the mangled arm that had mangled everything else about the artwork, and she knew that her mother was right. She had no skill. She didn’t know what she wanted besides wanting out. She couldn’t get into college. She was stuck with her mother, an artist without an artwork. All she did was paint Damla’s world black from the comfort of her big bathtub.

Dean is not out as bisexual, so when he and his girlfriend begin a polyamorous relationship with a man who lives with Dean’s classmate (the one with a crush on Dean), things are bound to get messy as they try to keep it all a secret. #QueerPit #R #CR #NA #A

A thief and a prince on a mission: ✅ Travel through a sentient labyrinth ✅ Disable the rogue AI controlling the maze, before it consumes the world ✅ Battle alien creatures, deadly quakes, & an underground cult ❌ Don't fall in love. Unless...? #QueerPit #YA #SF #D #MYTH

A moodboard with blue tones. At the center is a glowing blue planet. Surrounding it are: a snake, a cluster of glowing crystals, neon lights forming a geometric pattern, futuristic blocks with glowing lines between them, a pair of hands, some glowing optic fibers, blue crystals laid out in several rows, and some bioluminescent waves. There are two neon squares overlaying the moodboard—one smaller one outlining the planet at the center, and a larger one crossing through the corner images.

Art of Ren and Micah from my YA sci-fi book, commissioned from artist kaizmos. Ren has pale skin and dark brown hair in a half-ponytail. Micah has brown skin and dark brown hair with an undercut. They are both wearing futuristic dark bodysuits with glowing blue lines. They are standing waist-high in water and surrounded by glowing blue crystals. They are holding hands and gazing dazedly at each other.

ARSENIC & ADOBO X KILLER CONTENT When a stage manager stumbles across the body of the egotistical theater owner, she must cast her community as suspects to solve the case, or the theater may shut down and the curtain may fall on her career before it starts. #A #M #Cozy #Ace #Queerpit #POC

Two desperate women fleeing imprisonment. Two draconic artifacts bonded to them. A group of thieves who'll help them escape. A powerful noble who'll do anything to get them back. A secret that could ruin them. A bond that could save them. In a city where the sun never rises. #QueerPit #F #A #LGBT

A nine-panel square mood board to promote a book. Upper left square: blue fire on a black background. Upper middle square: the moon, barely visible behind clouds. Upper right square: dark pink scales. Middle left square: a blue-haired woman tying back her ponytail with a determined look on her face. Middle square: two hands held in silhouette in front of the sunset. Middle right square: a pink-haired woman with her hair partly braided and a downcast look on her face. Lower left square: blue scales. Lower middle square: a cluster of white candles, partially melted together. Lower right square: pink crystals viewed up close.

dark green background with white text reading “READER REVIEWS of The Bone Collector”
review from taylor: "...like Once Upon a Broken Heart, but different? More death.
Darker. Narnia too for the young adult adventures."
- taylor
review from suzanne: "I f-ing love bone collector, i really do.
Can't wait to give it to my (hypothetical)
baby." -suzanne
review from mina: "imagine being FIFTEEN, an illegitimate PRINCESS, whose father pits you against your brothers, with a DEADLY disease around, and you experience GAY panic at the first pretty girl to look at you, and you have to go on a QUEST while on your FIRST PERIOD... i'd end it"
- mina
olena is in the bottom right corner: a very pale 15 year old girl who looks incredibly tired. she has dark hair under a silk scarf that’s covered in art of lions and dragonflies. she’s wearing a dark blue cloak and dark dress and is fiddling with a bone.
