Kane Jamison @kanejamison.com · 27/09/2026My best hardware anecdote is that I had Claude patch the system files that connect to a USB-to-Serial-port cable that connects to our Pinewood Derby track for Cub Scouts. Saved my bacon 30 minutes before the races were going to start. A year prior we just would have gone without timers. 110

Kane Jamison @kanejamison.com · 12/05/2026I’d imagine this is more of a one off exercise to run on a repo, rather than something I would do frequently. But I guess the more often you do it the fewer things you have to review. 100
Kane Jamison @kanejamison.com · 12/05/2026It would be interesting to literally run ‘rails new’ in a separate folder on your computer, open a new branch on your main repo, and literally drag and drop all of the new app files into the existing repo folder. Then review the diffs and new files similar to a normal version upgrade process. 110
Kane Jamison @kanejamison.com · 12/05/2026I’ve never seen a process here. The only time I’ve seen it “proactively” done is when we are opting into a new library (eg actiontext, kamal) or upgrading from an old one (eg sprockets to propshaft). 110
