"Uuuh." Jeordie stalls as he cannot believe that his father is giving him the "didn't I raise you right" lecture, guy's version, before work. But his keys are being held hostage so he had to deal with it. There's no mercy as his father just continues on. "Your mother was SO UPSET when she found that condom she called me at the hospital last night and I Do Not blame her. That is so DISGUSTING." Especially considering that his mother was still cleaning his sheets the least his old man thought he could do is hide the evidence like an experienced man.

"It... was an accident!" Jeordie stammers, pulling his hood up to hide his darkening cheeks. "I... it... I fell asleep and it just disappeared! Why would I leave it there on purpose!" Why wouldn't he take it off in the first place? Lazy. His dad lays into him for that crappy excuse. "We have ample trash cans in this house. Your mother and I work hard to provide SO MANY trash cans." There's a glaze over his eyeglasses as daddy gets dramatic. "In the trash, Jeordie!" Jeordie turns away because he is just dying of embarrassment at this point, but maybe he should have thought of his own mom's mortification to see her son's banana skins. It's mostly a dammit, my son, I don't mind you sleep with your girlfriend safely but be discreet kinda thing. "It is the most important thing that is ends up IN THE TRASH!" Having got his keys Jeordie is trying to retreat but his dad continues once more as Jeordie walk-of-shames to his car, hood up. "The TRASH."

Last time I knew someone who was applying for a B&N job, they got asked whether they participate in Booktok, so I think even the corporate jobs are pretty heavily selecting not just for people who read, but people who read and review books.

90% of why I love it has very little to do with the plot and a lot to do with the all the various bits they've got Preed, Stith, and Gune doing.

I kind of enjoyed them, but I expected “apple and apricot flavored Turkish Delight” based on the appearance and that is, in fact, what I got.

So that rather than trying to reduce the daydreaming -> extra crushed upon rejection, it's more about increasing the endorphins from the rejection in some way.

Ouf, yeah, that makes sense, given that a lot of places don't allow simultaneous submission. Hm. Maybe make a game of the rejections? Or otherwise find a way to turn them into something fun/give yourself a reward for them so that there's something to look forward to with a rejection?

Is there a way to avoid looking at that specific page, or is it right front and center every time you log in to Submission Grinder to do anything there?

…I really need to actually read a JD Robb book one of these days.

I feel like in this specific case, trying to work one’s mind around to the job-search logic of “assume you didn’t get the job and move on to applying to the next, so if you get a positive response it’s a pleasant surprise” might be useful, if depressing.

Not good enough at drawing porn yet, anyway. Need to practice. Some day, I will figure out what I’m going to do with that particular story.

The vibe is maybe not quite all the way to Baddies but I do wish I’d put more time into figuring out how to draw it over the past year so that I could at least attempt pitching the whole “goth MILF fucks a scare actor dressed as a clown ringmaster” thing to the upcoming Iron Circus collection.

I don’t know that modern social media has been healthy for fandom overall, or for creators. Even people who want to keep a healthy distance can get dragged in.

I’ve definitely got weird and complicated feelings about this as someone who is primarily a fandom creator rather than one producing my own work… but even operating entirely on the fandom side, I find one or two weird interactions can sour any interest in connecting.

I feel like there’s like… this push for shiny too-perfect pseudo-realism that instantly sucks all the horny out of it. And it’s not like you can’t have realistic horny, but you gotta let your characters show it in their faces, and that style does not lend itself well to it.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

I took a Beowulf class in undergrad where we had to translate lines into English weekly, and it was just barely possible to do so quickly because I was also a German major and the text we were using had a dictionary in the back. But the German only gave me a tiny boost, I think.
