Governments, insurance companies and developers have access to maps that combine both floodplain and surface flood risks. But the public does not, leaving average residents in the dark. The Star worked with researchers at the University of Waterloo’s Climate Risk Research Group to create one.

Sitting through an extreme storm—a new normal under climate change—listening to news stories about our right wing leaders in Canada and Ontario ripping up bike lanes, cutting gas taxes, building pipelines, and locking us into worst case climate scenarios. Feeling pretty pessimistic.

#BikeTO some help to push this out. Driver crashed into a person riding a bike at Yonge & Bloor. July 20th ‘A cyclist named "George" witnessed the collision and comforted my friend but also was not interviewed by police. If George is out there, or anyone else witnessed the collision, please reply’

Collision at Bloor near Yonge last Monday.
My female friend was cycling westbound in the Bloor bike lane around 10:15 am on July 20 and hit by a white panel van making a right turn across the bike lane near Lululemon. She was knocked to the pavement, sustained cuts bruises and internal bruising. Her bike sustained damage to the left rear side. EMS took her to hospital and police did not interview her. The driver claimed that she hit the van so police did not charge him or consider it a collision even though the damage was at the rear of the bike. A cyclist named "George" witnessed the collision and comforted my friend but also was not interviewed by police. If George is out there, or anyone else witnessed the collision, please reply to this post.

‘Our estimate is that about 200 to 400 pedestrians a year would not have died if vehicles had remained approximately the same size over the past quarter-century. That represents about 10 percent of the recent increase in pedestrian deaths.‘

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.
