GrapheneOS or a similar third party Android distro is the only method I can think of.

We saw it Friday with a nearly full theater and that moment got some OHHHs and cheers from the assembly. Even better imo that they don’t linger on it in some self-congratulatory manner. Make the statement, move along.

In order to board a plane, individuals must show valid ID and a boarding pass. Placing ICE agents in those positions frees up TSA to work the scanners and secondary security checks, which might help reduce wait times. It's a terrible idea but it's unlikely to be illegal.

The US Constitution only sets a few restrictions for admission, mostly that a new state must be new territory unless (a) state(s) willingly give up the right to their own territory(-ies) expressly to create a new state.

Mac is mostly useful if you are fully enmeshed in Apple (iPhone, iPad, iCloud, FinalCut, etc) or the software you use is Apple-only. Otherwise Apple is so restrictive about interoperability that it isn’t worth it. Windows 11 is decent, so long as you turn off all the Copilot junk.

Even more, all LLMs contain a randomization factor in their output that is explicitly intended to make it sound more "natural" and prevent it from simply regurgitating the training data. Hallucinations are quite literally a feature, not a bug.

Only Real Americans, who we are making sure aren’t paid enough to take vacations regularly because that would harm production, should be tourists in America. And billionaires, who can do anything they want. Millionaires are welcome so long as they are only visiting areas that vote for (R).

All of these spoke to me, deeply.
A series of Tumblr posts:

The old magic persists thanks to its unfathomable power."
No, the old magic persists because the new magic can't run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don't want or need onto my orb.

Look, if the new magic didn't have a personality construct that kept trying to tell me which spells to use, maybe I wouldn't still be using the old magic.

Yes it had a deep blood cost, but at least it was a one time sacrifice and not this monthly bloodletting nonsense new age magic has

The old magic is robust enough to survive a decade of use and it's compatible with every wand, staff, scroll, and charm in our collection.
The new magic stops working after three days and every spell uses proprietary runes.
Our preferences, as an archiving institution, should be pretty clear.

You try to get guidance for the new magic and the king's sorcerers maybe will answer you in a few days with an unhelpful suggestion to buy the newest orb.
You need guidance for the old magic and a dozen retired middle-aged wizards will pop up to explain it to you rune by rune if necessary.

FWIW it’s the C-suite that makes these decisions not the legal counsel. They only answer to the Board/shareholders and have massive golden parachutes so they are happy to take the risk. And if it works in their favor they will get massive bonuses, so a personal win-win.

In order to make the argument that they shouldn't enforce the ban, they'd have to dance around the fact that their market position (monopoly) provides them the means of enforcement. Best to just stay quiet when it isn't something that directly impacts their financials, and as noted below may benefit

Not really, his beliefs are pretty standard for an Evangelical Christian. Few (if any) Christian sects are based around the teachings of Jesus as the primary emphasis is his deification and salvation. So long as one believes, one can be forgiven for any transgression against God or man.

Except framing it as the “last bulwark that failed” implies that there was some action that could have been taken to prevent the expected turmoil. My contention is that Biden as POTUS was not never could have been a bulwark, that the moment was larger than any single actor could hope to influence.

That reading of history misses the forest for the trees imo. There are factions within the GOP that have been working towards their reactionary goals for decades. There is little if anything that Biden could do to prevent it. Any random (R) would have won in '24, and they all agree on what's to come

Companies are working at shrinking turbines to home size. For now large turbines are more efficient but need large plots and specific conditions to be cost effective. For solar, it’s all about surface area and exposure times, which are agnostic to centralization.

justtyn.bsky.social @justtyn.bsky.social · 13/01/2025
That’s where things get cloudy. Sure the land is cheap, but the infrastructure to get the power tapped into the grid is not. There is likely a point where the $$/MW changes as proven by the fact solar farms exist but it’s also possible those were only made possible by gov funding
120
justtyn.bsky.social @justtyn.bsky.social · 13/01/2025
From an efficiency of use perspective, rooftop solar is a win-win: otherwise unused space can generate power locally, reducing overall load, with the added advantage of being able to provide excess generation to the existing grid. Then the theoretical large plot can be used for other priorities.

I'll be posting this graph again. And again. The measures necessary to stop that exponential curve will always seem like an overreaction if they accomplish their goal.
Graph of new cases against time. Red line: business as usual. Green line: with prevention and precaution efforts. The two lines coincide up to a point labled “Efforts start working,” when the green line starts to go down. Shortly after that is a purple marker labeled “Warning! We are close to” with an arrow pointing to “See? It wasn’t so bad. We overreacted,” which delineates a blue box low in the “new cases” space. The green line goes down in the blue box and keeps going down. Provenance of the graphic not known.
