A lot of tech people seem to want to solve social problems through a purely technical lens. But, unfortunately, to solve social problems like “trust” and “safety,” you need to make judgements that aren’t purely technical. It requires choices about politics and society. There is no avoiding it.

I know weather happens but how airlines announce delays seem so arbitrary. How are the pilots saying we are going to be delayed at least 1-2 hours and delta only delays the flight by 30 minutes?

I’ve always had empathy for my colleagues outside of the US when it came to scheduling meetings. But taking meetings at 5AM Japan Time the last two weeks has taken that empathy to another level.
