The outfit in question.

The fancy outfit on a mannequin in a shop window.

Jul @julsteele.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

I have no idea how to finish a picture anymore, so I've started four different ones of the same character who's my current obsession. This one will remain a sketch though, just wanted to capture the vibe. Noë in a fancy outfit we saw in Florence, and a pose from Trueref.

Rough digital drawing of an androgynous person with blonde curls in a fancy, elegant outfit.

Forgot to post my last #Artfight attack here - Yakobar and Yachalis for @balorkin.bsky.social. These two were so much fun!

Digital drawing of two characters- a red haired, thin man wwith his arms crossed looking a bit warily at a demonic creature with a crow beak and too many eyes.

And another attack, this one for artfight.net/~Stinneez! #Artfight

Digital drawing of two characters: one is a white fluffy canine, carrying another smaller one on his shoulders. The smaller character has a treasure map and a spyglass and is excitedly pointing at their destination.

If you see this, post a smiling OC! (... at least they're all smiling!)

Digital drawing of three people, smiling and posing for a picture.

This one is for @zimthandmade.bsky.social - such a neat character and game idea! #Artfight

Digital drawing emulating a watercolour painting of a character in a turquoise sweater and greenish pants tending to a small orange plant. The plant pot and two oranges are on a small table.

Another attack for Hatsumae on #artfight, their vampire Viktor. I really liked the character design!

Digital drawing of a pale man with long black hair and a fancy black and red suit kneeling, investigating some blood droplets on the ground.

Little fox experiment from earlier this year I never posted, using the #maxpack oil brushes for Procreate. All the oils without the mess. XD

Next #artfight attack is for @valdevia.art of his fabulous pride moth. I love the concept and the excuse to draw a moth for, I think, the second time ever. XD

Digital drawing of a cute fluffy moth with rainbow coloured wings, perching on a hand. The hand's owner wears rings and leather and rainbow coloured bracelets.

First #artfight attack is on @souvillaine.bsky.social's pretty bird. Wanted to draw this guy for a while! :)

Been meaning to do this for years, but this time I'll actually join #artfight! Find me here: artfight.net/~julsteele

It was really nice meeting you again. And I'm super happy I got to take some of your artwork home. Still needs a proper spot, but right next to my work computer is also appropriate for now. XD

Follow-up to this one from 2022.

Short comic of wessel and wolverine.
Both go on a wintery walk together, holding hands, then weasel stays behind. Wolverine suddenly gets hit with snowballs, weasel laughs. Next panel shows wolverine shaping a big heap of snow, looming over weasel who looks up in dread. Last panel shows weasel buried under a pile of snow.

Happy wintery holidays from @scapestoat.bsky.social and me. Enjoy some peace and quiet!

Digital drawing of a snowy meadow at sunset with hills in the distance and trees in the foreground. On a tree stump an anthro wolverine is pouring himself a cup of mulled wine, enjoying the peace and quiet. Next to him there is a heap of snow with weasel paws and a green scarf sticking out.

Hey, thank you for the share! I'm Jul, drawing mostly for fun. I do illustrations of my OCs as well as animals I like, particularly foxes!

Digital painting of two foxes sitting on an old stone wall, in front of a sunset over a valley. In the distance there are flat topped mountains.
The left fox is sitting, looking into the distance, the right one is stretched out and looking up at the first one.

Digital painting of a man, Jay, and a woman, Alex, huddling close together and looking concerned at the red source of light to their side. Jay is wearing a yellow sweater and a bun and has his arm protectively around Alex. She is dressed in a winter coat and a scarf and leans in, clutching Jay's hand.

Time for another one of these! It was such a busy year so I got little done, but I tried to stick to daily scribbles at least. You can tell things got better towards the end of the year. XD #ArtSummary

Art summary for 2024, a collection of 12 digital illustrations and sketches, one for each year. It's a lot of foxes and some human characters.

Still alive, just really busy with moving and renovating and other unexpected things popping up. At least I finally managed to update my profile pic after many years.

Didn't think I'd be able to fill one of these this year, but I got a surprising amount done (the birds have to count double XD). Art summary 2023!

Trying to figure out what Jay looks like in the present day, with his solo career taking off. Also experimenting with some new brushes.

A while ago I found some old scribbles I'd entirely forgotten about. I enjoy playing Rimworld, and had a colony once with a brave arctic vixen who lost her tail in battle and got a new bionic one. And since it's been snowing here all day, it's extra fitting - so, here's Nova the snow fox.

This is what my early (colour) sketches look like. I usually don't share them, but I liked this one and cleaned it up a bit. Jay, later in the story.

Oh, this is such a nice idea, thank you! I love seeing other people's OCs! Here are some of mine: Val, Jay and Alex. Early in their story, they are all part of a band. Then Things happen; one of them becomes a vampire, another one a rock star, and there are also ferrets and a dog.

Three friends huddled together in warm clothes and with hot drinks, Alex to the left, Jay to the right, both are smooching Val in the middle.

Val singing with his eyes closed, kneeling next to the microphone stand.

Jay playing a red guitar, sparks around him.

So last week I learned of the existence of society finches. They were in an aviary together with a bunch of zebra finches and the sweetest little things. Soft chirps, and one was gently trying to get a lone buddy of theirs to socialize with them. <3

Digital drawing of two society finches on a twig, one gently preening the other who seems sad.

I've had the honour to read this already, so I can absolutely recommend it if you love excellent world building and a good queer story. Ersatz also dove right into it. XD
