Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

I would like media to care more about the reality that tech tycoons want to kill people than what they’re imagining about AI wanting to kill people. We have multi-millionaires (with support from billionaires!) calling for ethnic cleansing, a thing that has happened in living memory. Not theoretical!

I've spent a lot of years studying a lot of collapses, and the truth of the matter is that they're always mundane: mild climatic shifts that reduce crop yields, a dumbass in power who makes some terrible decisions, neglecting things that obviously matter but the will to fix them can't be summoned.

This was basically me this week, reading MA theses. The worst part, to me, was that the astonishing reliance on it contaminated every step of the research process but still fell within the “fair-use” rules of our university. So crying, yes, but rage-filled tears of frustration, despair and anger.

“Eco-anxiété”: ou comment effectivement pathologiser ce qui relève, surtout, du politique. Et dire cela n’équivaut pas à nier l’affect et les souffrances individuelles bien réelles, mais aussi à les inscrire dans une réalité sociale et politique devenue structurante (et terrifiante).

I made y'all a guide so you can decide whether to post your reply, inspired by @georgemonbiot.bsky.social.
A flowchart diagram outlining a decision-making process for replying online, featuring six yellow rounded rectangular boxes stacked vertically on the left. Each yellow box contains a question with an accompanying emoji: "Is the reply insulting or abusive? 🤬", "Is it performative idiocy? 🤡", "Does it make false accusations? ⚠️", "Is it pointless conflict? ⚔️", "Is it racist, sexist, or other forms of prejudice? 🏳️‍⚧️", and "Does it contribute meaningfully to the discourse? ⚖️". Answering "Yes" to any of the first five questions leads via black arrows directly to a red oval on the right side that reads "Don’t post! 🛑". Answering "No" moves down to the next question in sequence. For the final question, answering "No" also points to the red "Don’t post!" box, while answering "Yes" is the only path that leads to a green oval at the bottom right that reads "It’s safe to post, but consider not posting anyway! 🚦".
