There are people with terminal illnesses who have valid reasons to want to end their lives, but there are many others who fear they may be subjected to efforts to coerce them into making that decision. Kelly sums this up perfectly: ".... but we must ensure disabled people have the right to live"

2 years ago in a museum in Athens, I met a wonderful Jewish woman who told me, “With my right eye I cry for the Jews of Israel; with my left, for the Palestinians.” I’m pleased our government has finally taken some action. The violence needs to end, then a peace process can begin.

From a practical perspective, 230,000 families would mean at least half a million people (or around the total population of Sheffield) being made homeless. So, as well as being obscene, it's completely impractical.

When heat-related UK deaths for July and August are added to the May-June 2026 total, the number will be significantly higher than in 2025. It's time for Govt (inc @ukhsa.bsky.social )to start talking publicly about this and have plans in place and taken action well before Summer 2027.
