Flying over the North Sea this morning, I caught a glimpse of some offshore platforms which dot the seascape. It made me think about what is living on/around them and how that more-than-human life has mattered in decommissioning policy. That’s what my forthcoming book Reefs or Rubbish is about.

Here's the backstory to my manuscript (lol) on the ways they addressed (or didn't) the environmental challenges of mining. Tri-Staters continually raised a zombie miner--the hardy, white, American-born worker described below--to justify opposition to remediation efforts into the 21st century.
