Preparing for the 4S meeting and I am a bit shocked at how AI has completely taken over as dominant panel topic. There are other topics... space mining, for example.

Just wrote this to an author so I’m coming here to share with you: One of the best ways to bring more readers into a book is to provide MORE context and information. I think there’s an assumption that you have to subtract—less jargon, fewer citations. Maybe, but readers need MORE of other things.

With an annual operating budget of $41.2 million, the University of Minnesota libraries should be open to the public. Overall its very sad to see such a beautiful campus right in the middle of Minneapolis close itself off to the public which it serves.

I've always been a fan of Lt. Gov Flanagan but what really galvanized me to turn out to vote was the onslaught of attack ads & all the dark money from the Craig campaign. A few seconds' shot of Craig holding a cardboard sign like some performative puppet was a poor response to her vote abetting ICE.

Better yet: stop publishing scholarly journals w/ commercial publishers! One issue is prob the editorial assumption that one has no power. Someone else founded a journal yrs ago. You took over editorship. Ask to see a contract! Talk to your predecessor! Ask: Why are we here? You don’t have to be!
