1password vault is protected by a secretkey which is in my emergency kit. The emergency kits for both my wife and myself are kept in 4 FIPS 197 Encrypted USB drives which are kept at home, and my Safety Deposit Box and other secure locations. The password for them is a unique 100+ character passphrase

I've been pretty offline lately but I just wanted to check in to let you all know I found a chest freezer in our woods this morning. neat!

I love how bad serious publications can be at just having websites. like what do you mean you’ve linkified only the letter “m”?
snippet from a Mother Jones article. at one point the word “term” shows that just the letter “m” is a link.

Du Bois had a real way with words
text: "On the other hand, it is also true, as human experience
again and again shows, that the usual matters of human debate and
difference of opinion are not so vitally important, or so easily classified;
that in most cases there is much of right and wrong on both sides and, so
usual is it to find this true, that men tend to argue it always so. Their life
morality becomes always a wavering path of expediency, not necessarily
the best or the worst path, as they freely even smilingly admit, but a
good path, a safe path, a path of little resistance and one that leads to
the good if not to the theoretical (but usually impracticable) best. Such
philosophy of the world’s ways is common, and probably it is well that
thus it is. And yet we all feel its temporary, tentative character; we
instinctively distrust its comfortable tone, and listen almost fearfully for
the greater voice; its better is often so far below that which we feel is a
possible best, that its present temporizing seems evil to us, and ever and
again after the world has complacently dodged and compromised with,
and skilfully evaded a great evil, there shines, suddenly, a great white
light—an unwavering, unflickering brightness, blinding by its all-seeing
brilliance, making the whole world simply a light and a darkness—a
right and a wrong. Then men tremble and writhe and waver. They
whisper, “But—but—of course;” “the thing is plain, but it is too plain to
be true—it is true but truth is not the only thing in the world.” Thus
they hide from the light, they burrow and grovel, and yet ever in, and
through, and on them blazes that mighty light with its horror of
darkness and behind it peals the voice—the Riddle of the Sphinx, that
must be answered.

"Such a light was the soul of John Brown."

KEXP DJs sharing grokipedia links? is this a joke?
post from Larry Mizell, Jr. on the KEXP playlist for the song “(I Want To Live In) America” which reads: “Where the Beat Meets the Street is the second and final studio album by Bobby & the Midnites, an American rock band formed as a side project by Grateful Dead rhythm guitarist and vocalist Bob Weir. RIP”

he then goes on to share the Grokipedia page for the album. the Wikipedia page for that album is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_Beat_Meets_the_Street

USPS privatization: good for everyone who loves relying on Comcast
snippet from the quoted article, a quote from Melissa Rakestraw, which reads: “So the plan is a bad deal for customers and for workers. It’s not going to be good for the American public or the postal worker, either one. It’s going to create an environment, if the privatization is able to move forward the way they’ve planned it, where [I highlighted the temainder] they could sell off access to your mailbox to private companies.”

they also make this cute little board game apparently?
the board for the game Goose Tooth which this company makes.

it's three nested squares, each of which has eight spots on the corners and midpoints of each line. the corresponding spots on the squares are connected. the spots seem to be places to put little goose tokens, some of which are present in this photo. those tokens are cute little wooden depictions of geese standing and in flight.
