Good lord, how far Nintendo handhelds have come. I saw something about a month or so ago like "hey y'all, you may want to charge your DS/3DS and go through each of your physical games to make sure the savefiles are still there and the cartridges are still capable of writing new data."

I really do love Legend of Zelda to pieces. I haven’t even played every one, but it’s still probably my favorite Nintendo franchise. Could’ve been DK, but fewer games and 64, Returns, and TF are not as good as the others. Zelda seems to hit every time.

As someone whose mom is currently suffering thru the ongoing development of dementia, enduring as best he can the uniquely awful experience of losing pieces of her slowly over time, this hits so hard simply thinking about the eventual “final” loss. If I had played A Link to the Past in the SNES days, I do not think it would have made a Zelda fan out of me. I enjoyed it for the most part when I finally did play it on my Wii U, but it’s far from my favorite. I started with Ocarina of Time within its launch year, and I’ve been a fan ever since.
